With legalization of soft drugs, the number of accidents dramatically increased, including cases with children. Also, number of crimes committed in inadequate state increases.
Based on the statistic: sale of so-called "medical marijuana" remained stable, whereas the level of implementation of "recreational drugs" (which not used for medical reasons, and for fun or because of the resulting dependence) continues to grow. Number of "dependent" smokers in Colorado exceeds the level of all over the country (semi-annual turnover was in this state of 130 tonnes of cannabis). According to the study, 487 thousand. Persons over 21 years - it is about 9% of the state's population - use cannabis at least once a month

I do not know many potheads, but I do know many that have smoked pot from time to time their lives

I do not know many Alcoholics, but I do know many that have drank Alcohol from time to time their lives

in fact most successful people have done both at some point in their lives

remember Einstein .. looking in a mirror wondering if he would be able to see his reflection if he was going the speed of light..... ;)

course if you have never had Marijuana, you would not understand why Einstein was asking himself this type of question....

I've never met a pot smoker on the internet who doesn't have a <130 IQ, Harvard graduate, 6 and a half figure income, oft nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and written at least 3 best sellers.

And Every pot smoker I've ever met in real life has never held a job, still lives at home and sits around and plays video game all night while sleeping all day.

    Funny how that works.

Do those numbers allow for the people who were using but wouldn't admit it until it was legal?

As with alcohol - if you don't like it don't use it, I'll put what I like in my body. If my actions themselves cause you injury, then you should seek damages as always, but you should not seek to imprison me.

I've known plenty of people that are pot-dependent and that are helplessly alcoholic, and I can say with absolute certainty that alcoholism is by far worse, although stoners aren't helping themselves either. I had a few spliffs with people in high-school, hiding in little clandestine corners of the school yard and puffing away, but I haven't done that in ten plus years, and I have a good few drinks once a week, and a casual beer after I get home on maybe one more, balance is the key. I remember one of my father's friends who over the space of five years of rampant alcoholism had gone from a qualified science school-teacher, working at a respectable school, to becoming dependent on government handouts and the alms of those around him, destroyed his relationship with his kids, divorced, living in a trailer park, destroyed all knowledge he once held, and died, after 5 years. He also ran into some hilarious situations that I still laugh about today, although are inappropriate to mention here.

Now that's and extreme case, but you'll find degradation of cognitive function in all alcoholics, and massive physical ailments, usually. As for marijuana, the only two negatives I've seen come of that, is one bloke I knew slowly slipped into psychosis and eventually schizophrenia after a few years of using it, terrible fate - was a really nice guy. And another, a friend of my mother's, an archaeologist, strangely enough, had heaviliy used since he was 16 or so, and he seemed very spaced out and slow, even when sober. Neither are great, but moderation and balance are key to using both. Or choosing to teetotal, which is fine too. But I can guarantee you won't see an alcoholic or a stoner that's all there.

yep, addiction is the problem, addicts of anything aren't all there, be it a food addiction, a work addiction, alchol, pot, coke... ect...

addicts will always find something to be addicted too..... even if it's sniffing spray paint

addicts exist if legal or not....

And all legalization would do is reward addicts, and create new ones.

Does your opinion also apply to alcohol? If not why?

In your opinion are there no causal pot smokers? I personally know a person who uses pot periodically who makes six figures a year in a high tech field. I knew another man who worked in a respected field of medicine who also lit up from time to time.

Yes, it does. Alcohol is another substance that is keeping the human race from reaching its full potential. It has never done anybody any good. All it does is make people drunk and want to get in a car and mow down innocent people.

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this."

So you're essentially admitting it's only potheads who favor legalizing it?

I guess in your world eliminating scumbag drug dealers, disrupting organized crime and lowering other crime rates is not a major benefit to society and neither are substantial increases in tax revenue.

So "potheads" are worse than mexican drug cartels that cut off heads and wontonly murder?

Amazing set of priorities you got there.

As for potheads like me, I have never stolen, murdered, raped, assaulted, owned a gun, or engaged in any violent crime of any kind. Methinks the world could use a lot more of my dangerous kind.
