Read the Arab newspapers.. they recognize the civil wars in Syria and Egypt for what they are instead of blaming them on Obama like our own rabid partisans do.

A Saudi delegation led by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal will participate in the high-profile ministerial meeting to be held by the Arab League in Cairo on Sunday, Osama Nugali, Foreign Ministry spokesman, said here on Saturday. The meeting is crucial keeping in view of the fast-changing developments in the Arab world.

“The Palestinian cause, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the repercussions of Israeli aggression on Gaza and the civil wars in Syria, Libya and Iraq will top the agenda of the ministerial meeting,” said an Arab diplomat. He said that the meeting will also address several issues, including new developments in Sudan and Somalia.

This meeting of the Arab League comes days before a UN General Assembly session. A meeting held by the Middle East Quartet and a ministerial meeting held by the GCC will possibly be convened on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting, while the UN meeting will also provide an effective platform for Arab officials to discuss regional developments.

A report said that ways to combat terrorism and the progress made by the Arab-African cooperation will be on the agenda, besides the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has already arrived in Cairo.

Abbas will meet his Egyptian counterpart and attend the Arab League foreign ministers meeting during his three-day visit to that country. Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Jamal Shobaki, who also serves as an envoy to the Arab League, said Friday that the foreign ministers would dedicate a special session to Palestine.

A delegation from the Arab League will also visit Gaza on Wednesday following the ministerial meeting.

The delegation will review damages caused to the infrastructure and utilities in Gaza. The delegation will be accompanied by an aid convoy consisting of more then a dozen truckloads of medicine and supplies.

I am delighted to see that the arab league is finally growing a pair. why, they might even determine that action is necessary beside all the blulster and bullcrap we have seen from them.

The league has whined about palestine, but done NOTHING about it, besides throwing a few bucks at corrupt palestinian politcians.

The league has wined about Egypt and MB and AQ and ISIS and Yemen and Sudan and done NOTHING about it, besides throwing a few bucks at corrupt politicians.

Maybe its time the arabs determined that sectarian wars and the perversions of Islam that springs from them are direct threats to themselves and their own vested interests and that they had better start taking action to combat these threats.

I would say food aid to Sudan for the past 30 years is something... as is drilling 91 water wells in Darfur and building 14 clinics.... Not enough but it helps...

You think only Arabs are sectarian?

I'd say throwing a few bucks at various problems in the arab league is more about them fulfilling their obligation to zakat, than a genuine concerted effort to elevate those donees to modern societies.

The arab league as CONSISTENTLY failed to fulfill or simply ignored its mandate.
For instance apart from some incredibly token involvement it has NOT invoked the mutual defence clause of that mandate.
The ONLY time they actually attempted some cohesive military operation was against the Israelis during al-naqba.

No sectarianism is not limited to the arabs nor the muslims, yet the arab & muslim sectarian wars that are raging throughout the middle east and Saharan Africa and central asia are to the best of my knowledge the only sectarian wars where tens of thousands of innocent civilians are currently dying.

This is promising, and I hope it transcends the diplomatic process to produce some solutions the US is incapable of.

I can imagine the only thing people who hate Obama will come up with is dissmissal. The last notion they need rattling around in the brackish goo that they call psyche's is hope for peace over there. It'll ruin their electioneering efforts in progress
