    Rhein-Main closed in 2005 after operating for 60 years in Frankfurt. An overall smaller footprint in Europe for U.S. troops seems to be the intended goal.

    Agreed, time to move on but that was some great duty in Stuttgart and Bad Tolz.

    I think the one military garrison that will be around for some time is Kaiserslautern. With the massive storage facilities there, it will stay open to provide material and equipment in the event of additional troops moving into Europe or the Middle East.
