Not what I envision. This is what I think when I hear of it: See lots more pictures from our northern neighbor @ http://www.cbc.ca/news/multimedia/a-day-in-the-life-of-nova-scotia-2014-1.2798531?cmp=rss
Always wanted to visit. Never been further East then the Toronto Airport/Bus Depots. Too friggen expensive to fly out there
I have a friend who lives near Halifax. She's visited me twice now and I have an open invitation to visit her. But like you said, it's a LONG way to travel. I think it takes about 14 hrs to fly (thru Toronto). Too damn far.
Spent 5 weeks there well worth it...I'd love to go back to NS but there many other places I need to cross off my bucket list first... - - - Updated - - - What you envision is still there...
My friend lives in Wolfville, NS. And in winter, has snow up to her shoulders! She's a teacher at the university there and took 3 months off one year and drove an old Honda (with no a/c)... from NS to Texas to AZ to CA, up to Vancouver and across Canada back to NS. She stayed with me for a few days before heading to the Grand Canyon to meet up with other friends. It was August. I still don't know how she endured that trip, but she sez she's been cold so long, she doesn't mind heat. LOL, obviously.
NS was nice. felt like Maine. Halifax is kinda boring, but the harbor was pretty and relaxing. easier to get there than Portland, ME. nice place to visit in the summer. wish I had known it was soooo close by plane.
Oh come now, How many days of Springtime does Nova Scotia have. What do you do the other ten months, rent in La Florida ? Moi FREEDOM for Newfoundland ! they was cheated r > g
An interesting fact about Nova Scotia is that we may be one of the first places hit hard by rising ocean levels. The Bay of Fundy has a funnelling effect on tidal waters producing the world's highest tides. In my part of N. S, the difference between low tide to high tide is only about one meter but along parts of the Fundy near Truro and Moncton, N. B. the difference is fifteen to seventeen meters. I have to wonder if a 30 cm (one foot) rise in average ocean levels would produce high tides 4.5 meters higher than normal along parts of the Fundy??? 30 cm x 15 = 450 cms or 4.5 meters There are 143,000 acres of productive farmland there protected by dikes that are probably the most vulnerable land on earth?!
Dennis, I hope you will share more with us about what life in NS is like. Perhaps you might have a link we can follow to see and learn more of where you live. Thanks
Here is where my wife works…… This historical community depicts life in our area from about 1860 to the 1930's. We actually had a pretty significant gold rush at that time. http://sherbrookevillage.novascotia.ca I personally work as a janitor about 67 kms/ 43 miles north in a school in Antigonish……. which has a pretty amazing history as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antigonish_Movement
This is something I hadn't read before... http://news.nationalpost.com/2015/0...shores-of-nova-scotia-israels-first-soldiers/ Rob Gordon: From the shores of Nova Scotia, Israels first soldiers
The M. P. for my federal riding is certainly an interesting person. http://www.petermackay.ca/main.php He is so well liked, even by members of other political parties that he actually received 56% of the vote in our last federal election. His mom is good friends with Green Party Leader Ms. Elizabeth May. I consider that my part of the world would be the perfect place to initiate a greater level of cooperation across party lines. http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...s-p-m-brokering-jordan-israel-peace-deal.html Please pray or meditate on Canada's P. M. brokering Jordan - Israel peace deal? I know that many of you pray or meditate so please pray that P. M. Stephen Harper initiate a peace deal between Jordan and Israel? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am a member of a different Canadian political party but I have to admit that P. M. Stephen Harper is for good reason regarded as a rather "Davidic" figure by a high percentage of Israelis. What he did for Israel back in 2011 at the G-8 was one of the most courageous and wise acts by a political leader that I have seen since I began to watch world events back in the '70's! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...per-stands-alone-at-g8-summit/article4263322/ On Israel, Harper stands alone at G8 summit - The Globe and Mail
