In some regions it can be difficult just to find a job-- any job. And the ones that are left are the really crappy ones. I bet many of these unemployed people would even work for minimum wage, if only their job just involved sitting at a desk in a comfortable quiet office.

For a lot of these jobs, the employer will not even let the workers sit on a chair. They are required to remain standing for hours at a time, really pointless. It's obvious in these cases that the employer places little value on those he hires. Plenty of other desperate people willing to do the job, so he can burden them with all sorts of things they have to put up with.

Plenty of other jobs pay only little better than minimum wage but require years of school and training. And then there might not be any guarantee that one could even get the job, after spending all that time, effort, and money. Some people might not be ready to make that level of commitment for a job they would see as temporary, just to get them along until they can find something better.

But sure, if people are expected to take any job they could possibly get and work for peanuts, then I guess they're all just lazy.
