http://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Germany-Opposes-Ukraine-Joining-NATO-20141126-0030.html Whatever Porko is planning, Germany remains skeptical and so is the rest of the Europe.
Germany opposes Ukrainian membership in NATO "at this point". Which is diplomat-speak for, "we reserve the right to do whatever we like when and if we like". Never doubt for a moment that for years now, the central bankers and the IMF have been trying to take over the economy and political landscape of Eastern Europe, and that Ukraine has been their prime target. That's why the central bankers agitated for the Maidan "revolution" a year ago, after the Ukrainian president chose to ally itself with Russia instead of the EU. They threw out the president they didn't want, and replaced him with one they did want -- pure and simple. In self-defense, and in defense of the ethnic Russian people in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, Russia, annexed Crimea back into Russia where ALL of Ukraine had been since 1783, until the mid-1990's. Nothing the bankers do will make Vladimir Putin renounce Russia's claim upon Crimea, the home of the Russian Black Sea naval fleet, and the only warm-water sea port that Russia has. It is one thing to manipulate columns of figures on a banker's spreadsheet. It is another to engage in an armed confrontation with an enemy who has pride, resolve, power, strategic advantage, and, thermonuclear weapons capable of being delivered by missiles launched from beneath the sea: http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/1...rine-based-intercontinental-ballistic-missile Merkel must do what the European Central Bankers in Frankfurt tell her to do, but that doesn't mean that all Germans are stupid. They've learned that it's a lot more enjoyable to be wealthy and happy than to fight Russians in the snow and mud of Eastern Europe -- for what? A bunch of bankers...?!
I oppose it as well...they had their change, and could not agree. Because of this, the country is about to fall apart and be annexed by Russia. If they were in agreement then perhaps it would be a good idea....but not like it is.
This is true. The Maidan coup triggered disintegration of Ukraine and Ukraine will never become a gain for NATO or USA. I am sorry for people of this region, but there is a hope - Russia is nearby.
No the Russian invasion of Ukraine triggered this. Russia is not a savior for the Ukraine anymore than Hitler was for Poland.
Yes, Ukraine has a dubious value to EU, not worthy of fighting for. Only nationalists from Lvov wanted it all. May be they will end with separation from Ukraine, which does not appreciate them.
The Russians seem to be very happy and proud of themselves and why wouldn't they be? Push come to shove they're going to do exactly what they want and they know that nobody is really going to stop them. If the Russians are reasonable about it the Germans will go along with them. The Germans are making piles of good money and happy doing business with the Russians. Why would they want to screw that up? The Germans know that the Russians don't want to invade them because the Russians do great business with Germany and its good for both countries. The only country really stirring the Ukraine pot is the USA.
I do not believe in a independent foreign policy of Germany because in difference to Schroeder, Kohl, Schmidt and other former chancellors Merkel does only that what she get commanded from Washington. As long Merkel stays chancellor nothing will changed without permission of potus.
Germans are free to elect a different chancellor. Any politician is replaceable. We will have a different president in 2016. I still do not know how I will vote, because I do not see any good hopefuls.
You are correct, and it is also fair to say that Germany has gone along with whatever the U. S. has wanted (with a very few exceptions) since the end of WWII. This is what happens when a country loses a war. Merkel must be the most miserable person in this whole mess. She knows better than anyone else exactly what is going on in Europe, and she is reminded constantly from German business people what is in Germany's best interests. But, thanks to the European Central Bank (in Frankfurt), she must follow the "party line" dictated by the central banks and the IMF, which had targeted Ukraine for a complete financial takeover last year. Obama? He's completely under the thumb of the American central bank called the "Federal" Reserve System, and it operates in unison with the Bank of England, the ECB, etc., etc. Merkel isn't stupid, but unfortunately for her she's been put on the same EU/Western "team" as Hollande, Obama, and a bunch of disinterested leaders of smaller European countries that don't care about anything as long as they get cheap Russian natural gas on credit. The Europeans will surely develop new sources for energy and deploy them into general usage, but that will take at least ten years to accomplish.
Merkel is from former GDR and she had certainly been indoctrinated in Communist dogmas and this could bias her decisions now.
