It's okay to be average citizen, which have equal rights with everybody, rights and freedoms, which were described in first amendment! Battle for equality throws us into darkness, this battle stops our social evolution. They want to marry? We give them marriages, but stop asking for more! You have got enough! Live like others and stop trying to affect on us! Sorry for this post, but today's situation really angers me!
So here is the problem with what you are asking of the LGBT community. Humans are always supposed to be looking for more. It's part of nature and our evolution as a species. We are always looking for something that we consider better. If someone get's hired as a server at McDonalds, do you not expect them to want to be better than that? Maybe a manager or even stumbling into some career for which they carry a passion. We are always looking for more and never satisfied with keeping the status quo. We shouldn't ever stop anyone from pursuing their beliefs and desires. Having said that, however, we must realize that our personal pursuit of happiness cannot come at the cost of others. We should look for better to build us up as a country and not step on a heap of bodies to reach the top. I am not a fan of the LGBT community at all but I'll accept them looking for something better for their group. They shouldn't be stepping all over other people's rights to get it though. I am disgusted at how people who defend their right to practice and believe how they want are being forced to go against their core beliefs or risk being fined or even imprisoned upon diversion from the accepted norm. They make up less than 2% of the population and yet innocent's must suffer for them to achieve what they consider to be acceptable. That isn't right. They want equality. I doubt they will stop until they get it. You will have to confront their arguments.
Well, I am not sure I want much more. I want the right to marry, and the right to raise some kids, and equal access to a decent job and a place to stay. Oh yeah I also want to show my sweetheart I love him with a kiss and hold his hand as we walk downtown. That's about all.
The mistake has been made, once you have given special right to any group they will come back for more and more. Also, unfortunately judicial branch of the government (unelected officials) is deeply corrupt and people have no constitutional right to fight back.
Could you tell me what else gay people are demanding, but equal recognition of their marriage rights? Or does it bother you that gay people may want to raise children also?
Sorry, but gay marriage has not ruined my 43 years marriage. . .in fact, it couldn't, although an heterosexual marriage ending in divorce may be a temptation for either my husband and I to stray, (sarcasm!) I don't think either of us would be interested in breaking our marriage vows in order to become homosexuals! I am all for gay marriage and gay equality. . .first, I believe everyone should be allowed to select their mate based on attraction and love. . .and second. . . .that means less competition for heterosexual couples hitting a "hard path!"
They are not slaves anymore. What else do they want? How about dignity and equality? How about respect? Read my signature line
Love and attraction is your private business, why taxpayer should pay for someone's love and attraction.
It's not a special right, you too can marry someone of the same sex if SSM is legalized. - - - Updated - - - As proven in other threads, the government doesn't pay for someone's love and attraction. You keep repeating lies over and over again and get proven wrong at every turn.
Well then. . .why don't we cancel ALL government advantages for married people. . .whether heterosexual couples or gay couples. That would make it EQUAL! - - - Updated - - - And you are a specialist in recognizing what it means to "call other members' names!"nn
I'm on board with this whole equality thing. You know, I can NEVER find the right clothes to fit. I can't just go into a clothes store and pick out what I want from a clothes rack. This is no fault of mine because I was born tall. 'Big and Tall' outlets always mark up their products and choice is quite limited so, I do not have the same OPPORTUNITY as the majority. I believe EVERY clothes manufacturer should be made to make clothes in MY size.
what more are they asking from America then heterosexuals are? - - - Updated - - - if a store has the right size in stock and on the shelf, I bet you would be upset if they refused to sell it to you if as a baker you already have a cake made and on the shelf, sell it, say you wont add any words against your religion, but sell them the cake adding words to the cake is like making special alterations to a dress that is too big or small, the business doesn't have to do that, but they have to sell you the dress if it's on display as for sale .
Nope, I'd just go somewhere else and buy it but, that would not happen today because I can guarantee you there would be nothing in my size in the first place and I know it is futile to whine and moan so, I just do what I do now and order from a limited supply. If asked to add words on the cake that I personally abhor (ie F.....Y....). I would not do it. If the haberdashery doesn't want to make alterations there are plenty more that will. Why should I waste my time whining and moaning? Oh, and no I wouldn't buy a dress. Do I have the 'right' to go to SCOTUS and expect a judgment in my favor to force ALL manufacturers to make my size?
Yeah! Let's keep discriminating against them in the workplace! https://www.aclu.org/maps/non-discrimination-laws-state-state-information-map
Gay couples do not have anything in their relationship that represent public interest of concern. By endorsing gaymarriage government provides benefits to those couples. Since benefits cost money taxpayers are essentially paying for gay sex.
Yes we can stop using name marriage, but we still have to regulate relationship between man and woman because it is a public issue.
I am not saying all bakers have to make your size of cake.... I am saying if they have a cake on display as for sale... they need to sell it to you if would be false advertizing for them not too...... they do not have to do any addl artwork to it for you though.... .
never said you should, I am saying we should not force a cake maker to make your size cake, but your free to buy a cake on display, and they should not be able to deny you that sale based on your large size
Right, despite previous discussions you unable to present any meaningful argument. Gay couples cannot have children as a couple, the decision to adapt child can be made only by mutual agreement and each party can refuse adaption at any time. On the other hand, heterosexual couples have unconditional responsibility for children, i.e. they carry a burden imposed on them by the government. E.g. if woman gets pregnant against man's will, man cannot withdraw from the relationship. That is why we have marriage, i.e. some kind of payback from the society. Since government does not know when or whether heterosexual couple going to have children, all couples are covered with marriage benefits. As far as creation of stable family, no doubt mother and daughter and can be good family and adapt child. Two sisters can be good stable family and adopt children. Sex and rearing children has nothing to do with each other, that is why it is not clear why only homosexuals are getting benefits. And no one have ever presented any valid reason.
