In case you dont know who Chomsky is, he is "an American linguist, philosopher,[21][22] cognitive scientist, logician,[23][24][25] political commentator and anarcho-syndicalist activist. Sometimes described as the "father of modern linguistics",[26][27] Chomsky is also a major figure in analytic philosophy.[21] He has spent most of his career at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he is currently Professor Emeritus, and has authored over 100 books. He has been described as a prominent cultural figure, and was voted the "world's top public intellectual" in a 2005 poll.[28]"

This is what he had to say about America, and Ronald Reagan.

"This is a very racist society, I mean its pretty shocking. What has happened in the last roughly 30 years with regards to African Americans is very similar to what happens to what ??(couldnt understand the name sorry) describes in the late 19th century, and remember what happened. There was an amendment after the civil war that was supposed to free African American slaves, it did something for about 10 years, but than there was a North/South compact which essentially granted that the former slave owning States the right to do whatever they wanted, and what they did was criminalize black life in all kinds of ways. That created a kind of a slave force. In fact one of the most interesting books on this, Douglass Black "Worse than slavery" or something like that, it threw mostly black males but also women into jail where they become a perfect labor force, much better than slaves.

If you're a slave owner you have to pay to keep your capital alive, if the State does it for you its terrific. No strikes, no disobedience, a perfect labor force. Alot of the industrial revolution in the late 19th early 20th century was based on that. Actually it pretty much lasted until about the second world war, when there was a need for whats called "free labor" in the war industry. After that come about 2 decades where African Americans have a shot entering the society. A black worker could get a job at the autoplant, the unions were still functioning, they could buy a small house and send their kid to college or something.

By the 1970's or 80's it was turned around, the criminaliazation of black life, its called the drug war, which is a racist war, Ronald Reagan was an extreme racist. The whole drug war is designed from policing up to eventual release from prison to make it impossible for the black male community and more and more women and hispanics to be part of this society. In fact if you look at American history, the first slaves came in 1619, and thats half a millennium. They have had about 3 or 4 decades which African Americans have had a limited degree of freedom. Not entirely, but at least some. Of course for black elites there is some privileges but im talking about the mass of the population which has been recriminalized and incidentally turned into a slave labor force such as prison labor for example. In fact just take a look at the last election, in many ways its the Civil War. The Red States are the Confederacy, and it extends a little bit beyond but thats pretty much what it is. And of course this is a real battle, these two founding crimes, slavery and extermination of the indingenious population, are very much with us. Take a look at Indian reservations today, not a pretty site." - Noam Chomsky

I agree entirely with what he said because they are facts, this is simply American History the only ones who deny it are the ones guilty of this and seek to revise history to suit a more right wing fascist agenda of white supremacy and corporate rule.

Again, when one can't oppose ideas with rational thought, throw out the racism accusation.

You do realize there was 3 paragraphs there right, not just one word? Is the only word you saw out of that entire thing "racist"? Either you cant read, or you are playing semantics trying to "oppose ideas without rational thought", the same accusation you made of me you are actually doing yourself. Typical right wing projection.

The drug war started 100 years ago starting with opium. I doubt Reagan was responsible for that.

Because we all know that drug abuse is a good thing. Nancy Reagan put in place the 'Just say no' for children but got pilloried by the left even though it was successful in reducing drug use in children. Now, heroin abuse is on the rise again. It has become an epidemic in cities killing many including my nephew. It is not a surprise that government gets involved because people want them too.

Alcohol is a drug and tons of people die from that, why dont we ban it? Right, because you need an excuse to arrest black people for something everybody does :wall:

You notice Reagan mentioned drug and alcohol abuse. I believe it is more about education than law but then when the wrong person gets involved, like Nancy Reagan with a successful campaign, all progress gets halted because of partisanship.

He virtually exhausts all Intellectual capital on being and talking " Nutty ".
Literally. He thinks that by using fancy schmancy big words and incomprehensibly
strung-together phrases,it somehow raises him to the level of Genius.
Oppenheimer was a genius and was Einstein.Wording and words were of
least importance in their brain power.
Wordy types are certainly Not genius.Math & Physics types are the genius.
Certain engineers and doctors.Maybe certain writers who carve out novels
of great import and social conscience while seeming everyday.
There is nothing everyday about Chomsky. He's just yer typical garden
variety *addlehead. When confronted on - Firing Line - by the Great wordsmith
William F. Buckley he was deficient.Buckley had him searching for words
while simultaneously incapable of keeping a clear thought in his head over the
debate being agued.Meaning Chomsky, like Obama tries to deflect from the
real issue at hand by filibustering non sequitur inanities.

    * confuses ideas.

And you are usually one of the first to degrade a topic down to the subject of race.

Wow, nice playing semantics there buddy. Yes that video was just education because by definition videos are not (*)(*)(*)(*)ing laws :wall: Very very nice semantics there, I wonder how stupid someone has to be to fall for it?

Everyone knows it was not just "education", he created actual laws on this and you know it but again, you are simply playing semantics a typical right wing strategy.

The President does not create laws. Though you should know. It should be noted too that the funding for this originates in the house and the house was controlled by Democrats throughout Reagan's presidency and two years of the Senate.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_Drugs
"For his first five years in office, Reagan slowly strengthened drug enforcement by creating mandatory minimum sentencing and forfeiture of cash and real estate for drug offenses, policies far more detrimental to poor blacks than any other sector affected by the new laws.
Then, driven by the 1986 cocaine overdose of black basketball star Len Bias, Reagan was able to pass the Anti-Drug Abuse Act through Congress. This legislation appropriated an additional $1.7 billion to fund the War on Drugs. More importantly, it established 29 new, mandatory minimum sentences for drug offenses. In the entire history of the country up until that point, the legal system had only seen 55 minimum sentences in total.[69] "

That campaign by Nancy Reagan was very successful but ended as soon as Reagan was out of office.

So when someone does something racist we cant call them racist? Clearly you are just trying to cut out the discussion of race lol, its blatantly obvious. Its like thieves not wanting people to mention thievery anymore lol.

"Republicans want less government for the same reason criminals want fewer cops"

Seeing how liberals are obsessed with race and see everything through a race filter, it is no wonder anything anyone does is viewed as racist.

Chomsky is by very definition an " Unmensch " or unfriendly and/or
    Unlikeable.
Unless if someone could explain what's there to like about an
    Anti-everybody.An Anti-anybody.
But that happens to be the bed Chomsky has made for himself over
    the years.
