Let's look at a few facts-

    1. Rafael Cruz, though he claims to be a staunchly conservative Christian today....was a friend and ally of Fidel Castro during the Cuban Revolution.

    2. "Ted" Cruz (nee Rafael Edward Cruz) was born in Canada. A country dominated by a Left-of-Center government and culture for decades. As the CIA Officer said in "Canadian Bacon"....its government is full of socialists.

    3. Cruz moved to Texas, where he knew that if he won the Republican Nomination....he would be assured of winning his Senate seat.

    4. Cruz was a supporter of the 2013 Government Shutdown supposedly to "de-fund Obamacare".....which instead embarrassed the Republican Party, saw its approval polls plunge to a record low of 28%, and its goal of defunding Obamacare failed.

    5. Cruz continually attacks members of his own Party.

    6. He continues to embarrass the Republican Party by making it appear extreme and unable to govern.

    7. Cruz is now running for President quite obviously. However, to support him, many of the Birthers are now contradicting themselves on their statements that "only people born in the United States are eligible to be President"....and thus Cruz is making them look like hypocrites and liars.

    8. It is likely in the 2016 GOP Primaries, Cruz will take the most extreme positions and garner huge applause from Republican audience members...and thus force other Republicans, including the Eventual Nominee, to support similar extreme positions....

thus making it impossible for that Nominee to woo moderate and independent voters for November 2016.

In the brilliant 1962 original "The Manchurian Candidate"....."Raymond Shaw" (Laurence Harvey)'s mother and step-father (Angela Lansbury, James Gregory) were OUTWARDLY the most "anti-Communist conservatives"...

but were secretly allied with Soviet and Chinese agents.

So too, are Rafael Cruz and Ted Cruz the "most anti-liberal conservatives"....and yet????

    Naturally, I am joking...or am I? :)

Should have gone in "Humor"....but then, I thought given the high state of paranoia the Right lives in, that it just might start them gong "Hey....hmmm...I never thought of that."

But unlikely, they are also delusional and most really and truly believe that a Far Far Right guy like Cruz not only has a real shot at the GOP Nomination.....but could actually be elected President.

(Oh, and before you say "Oh, yeah? What about Ronald Reagan?"...I'll just warn you I have a whole list of "Where Reagan Went Liberal" FACTS from his Presidency ready to go....including my Signature Line. :) Plus, Reagan would be considered a "RINO' today by the 2016 Republican Base. )

Exactly....the timing is very "coincidental", huh?

After Romney's defeat, which the GOP Autopsy Report blamed on low Latino vote turn-out for the GOP.....suddenly a Cuban-Canadian shows up to run for President.

Who cares? My grandparents were staunchly Conservative also, did not stop an aunt and uncle from being hard core Leftists. We are discussing Ted not Rafael.

It is also not unusual for individuals to support then later condemn the actions of a revolution once it wins. A lot of people in Argentina applauded when the coup overthrew the corrupt Peron regime. Did not stop them form then condemning the junta when it became just as bloody and corrupt in the opposite direction.

Yes he was. And John McCain was born in Panama. To be honest, I really do not care where he was born (nor more then I care about where President Obama was born) because his mother was a US citizen by birth. So where she was when her baby was born should not matter worth a damn.

Never mind that he had moved to Texas in 1974 (when he was 4 years old), and graduated from High School there.

Oh, and he moved back to Texas back in 2003, almost a decade before he was elected to the Senate.
