Would you pay to read it?

    El Rancho Jamul

From blood-drenched fields, Gabriel Fletcher leaves behind a burnt-out home to head west to the golden promise along Pacific shores. He seeks but a peaceful place to raise a family. What he finds is a woman to love, a place to live, and the fight of his life.

A shoot 'em up outside of San Diego in 1867.

    or

    El Rancho Jamul

Drifter. Gunslinger. Bereaved widow fighting off evil men trying to take her ranch. Drygulched. Confrontation. Crooked sheriff and judge. Deputy U.S. Marshall. Big gunfight. 1867 California.

What more could a Western or Old West fan ask for?

With the first one, if you really got into the "place to live" aspect and all the wants and problems around that, it might strike a chord with some of the illegals and refugees and their issues.

With the second one, if the crooked sheriff actually had a heart of gold and secretly helped the heroine and won her instead of the gunslinger doing so, that would be an interesting twist. Who is that famous jailer right now that all the conservatives like? Maybe you could get some ideas from pieces on him.
