Question about taxes?

    Next year I will probably owe about $15,000 in taxes which I may not be able to pay fully when I file. I hear money owed can be paid back within a 3 year period. May I ask if anyone hear has any experience with this? How does the IRS work with you on this? I've never been in this type of situation before. Anything I should be aware of before hand? Thanks

    Despite this being an old question I'm going to give an opinion.

    Before I would ever consider dealing with the IRS on making late payments, I would change the reason why I would not pay on time. To know a year in advance is plenty of time to make changes.

    This answer is probably too late for you, but if someone else is in this position, the best thing to do is to get a lawyer that specializes in IRS tax delinquencies. They can usually get the majority of the debt dismissed.
    The rest you can make payments on.
