Uh oh, those warmer temperatures are freezing waves on the ocean.

    Kind of scary isn't it?

Frozen waves captured in Nantucket surf photos

Photographer was shocked to see ‘Slurpee waves’; a day later, ocean was frozen

All the while the Pacific Ocean has hot spots that have been keeping us on the left coast warm and comfy, if a little dry.

Another person who doesn't understand the difference between weather and climate. 2014 hottest year on record, but it is cold in winter so..............

Some people seem to think that global warming means that every single day will be hotter than usual.

Granted a colder than average winter does not negate the theory of global warming, but your "on record" statement begs the question of how long that "record" is in relationship to the age of the Earth.

I'll have a bit more faith that climatologists can accurately predict weather trends for decades when they start getting their short-term predictions a bit more accurate. LOL

And, of course, the "settled science" of the 70s was to inform us that the Earth was cooling and we were in danger of a mini Ice Age. Where are the climatologists that made those predictions? Hiding under the bed, we can safely assume.

There you go, global warming is also regional. Did you know that the warm spot in the northern Pacific is the reason for the possible, 'warmest year'?

This is a lie. A huge lie. The science of the 1970s was global warming. A few scientists predicted a cooling trend and were laughed at by the entire rest of the scientific community but it sold newspapers and so it's what newspapers ran with.

Colder winters actually helps PROVE climate change. They have said for years that it would cause hotter summers and colder winters, and cause more powereful storms. Eventually, the higher sea levels will cause a drop in temperature that causes new glacial formation and an ice age.

They also claim that the Northwest Passage has melted and that's a sign of Global Warming. Except, we found ancient maps that show it was also melted 400 years ago. Now the polar caps are freezing again at a record rate. The Earth has undergone a series of both warming and cooling phases. That's natural.

The lesson that should be taken from this is to do your best not to pollute and to care for our Earth, but at the same time - have a healthy dose of skepticism when people who stand to benefit financially from a "theory" are pounding that theory...like Al Gore. Follow the money trail far enough and you'll find someone who's twisted data for their own gain.

That's why it behooves everyone to think for themselves and not complacently swallow all the propaganda being spoon fed.

    Just my two cents.

The ice caps melt and freeze as part of the weather. The problem is that they are smaller every year because less is freezing because of higher overall temperatures.

Hmmmmm - this is such an unusual event that people have taken photos

And you think this is NOT climate change???

I keep saying that we will see the poles completely disappear but there will still be some idiot denialist standing there with a glass full of ice saying "look there is still some ice global warming has not happened yet"

LOCAL is not the same as global
Weather is not the same as climate

Scientists don't become rich from global warming theories and Al Gore isn't a scientist.

The fact that it still gets cold doesn't mean that global warming isn't happening.

That's why it's called global warming. Not this spot right here, right now warming.

That's the funniest graphic of the year. Obviously you don't know what the U.S. Government is spending to get a carbon tax vs what the oil companies are.

Show us where big oil is spending more than that.

It wasn't that long ago that the experts were saying global warming would do away with winters in the US. Now, they say when it warms up, the winters get colder? Hell, you cannot win with these guys because they seem to make it up as they go along, in order to maintain their claims. LOL.

The climate is changing folks, and has been changing since the ice sheets melted off of north America. And the way this cycle goes, it will continue to warm up until the poles are melted, for we are still in a glacial age, and are still coming out of the last ice age. Man has helped to perhaps speed up the natural cycle of warming, but it will warm even if we are not here. If you reduced co2 production today, suddenly, by 80 percent, the NASA climate scientist said the earth would continue to warm for at least the next 500 years. So, taxing carbon, hurting average people economically, solves NOTHING. It's like trying to empty the pacific with a teaspoon, except when it comes to reducing co2, the hysterical cannot think logically to see the uselessness of their hysteria. This entire climate change deal is like the UFO hysteria of the 50s. It is merely a psychological affection, that we should address by getting these alarmists to a shrink, to help them out. For these people are just overreactive, and that can hurt so many people, if you succumb to their particular mental affections.

    Really?? Who was saying that?

Usually when someone makes a statement about "experts" making outrageous statements like "no more winters" what you find is that no expert actually said that - it was a straw man put up by denialists who cannot and will not understand the science

As for the climate changing - it is the RATE of change that is a difficulty = that will lead to mass extinction if we are not careful

Bwahahahaha! So now you are putting up a straw man. Are you a denialist that cannot and will not understand the science?

Here is an article from 2005...

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/10/1017_051017_warming_weather.html

"No Winter by 2105? New Study Offers Grim Forecast for U.S."

"Winter weather could be affected as well, Diffenbaugh said. "You're looking at the coldest couple of weeks of the year not existing anymore in lot of places," he said. "Certainly winter as we know it likely will disappear in the Northeast."
