"Vienna (CNN)After tortuous talks that spanned 20 months, negotiators have reached a landmark deal aimed at reining in Iran's nuclear program.

The agreement, a focal point of U.S. President Barack Obama's foreign policy, appears set to reshape relations between Iran and the West, with its effects likely to ripple across the volatile Middle East. Representatives of Iran, the United States and the other nations involved in the marathon talks were holding a final meeting in Vienna on Tuesday.

Speaking ahead of the session, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called the deal a "historic moment," although he cautioned that it was "not perfect."Obama will deliver a statement on Iran at 7 a.m. ET, the White House said.

"It's a good day for diplomacy, it's a good day for compromise, it's a good day for a new beginning between Iran -- a pivotal state in the Middle East -- and the United States," said Fawaz Gerges, professor of Middle East studies at The London School of Economics." - Source

Quid pro quo......It's about time to welcome Iran back into the world community. Good for the Iranian people and good for the US.

If I were an Iranian I wouldn't count their chickens just yet. There are many obstacles in front. The U.S senate and congress to start with. I'm certain that conspirators in Washington D.C are working overtime in order to ruin the deal. Time will tell whether they will be successful or not. I bet they will. Any bets?

This is good news. Really. Sanctions can be lifted which will benefit Iran, the ME in general, and other countries that can work with Iran if sanctions are lifted.
Hopefully they can still work on a peaceful program.

Speculation and rhetoric around a nuclear weapon program, which have never been verified over the last 20+ years, are hopefully put to bed. I hope that there is no future ideas of ousting Iranian governments making the region more unstable and allowing IS and likes more grip.

Are you kidding me? UN inspectors do not get access to military sites without first putting in a request, and then having it get approved, giving Iran plenty of time to remove any evidence of nuclear weapon development, if they decide to grant access at all. If the inspectors get close, Iran will simply stall and stall until the place has been sanitized. The U.S. has been made to look like weaklings and fools.

Um . . . deal? From what was being said in various places this morning the Obama/Iran 'deal' consists of the Iranians SAYING that they have no program to develop nuclear weapons and that in order to prove it we may inspect their civilian research establishments but that we are forbidden to inspect their military research establishments and with us saying, "Duh . . . okeydokie. You've got ourselves a deal!"

Soooooooo . . . no change whatsoever in how things were except that we drop sanctions while they continue to give us the middle finger, smirk, and continue development programs on nuclear weapons. Sweet!

Well yes, but that just reflects the reality that under Obama and the radical leftists controlling the Executive Branch via the Dem Party, the United States currently is being run by spiritual weaklings and damn fools. Still . . . only 555 days, 18 hours, and 3 minutes as of this posting before a REAL president and party replaces they keystone cops bunch currently controlling the nation's Executive Branch.

It was obvious they will reach a deal, I also think they will get a Nuke one day,

Let's see if the American Admin got something in return regarding IS, Iraq and Yemen.

Hopefully we will see much lower prices on gasoline right away as speculators push the prices down.

Unless the Republicans sabotage it. Godalmighty, only 555 days until those jerkwads are kicked to the curb and we see the end of the Republican Party and conservatism in this country

Well . . . from my readings on this subject over the past few months in regards to what the U.S. was offering versus what Iran was demanding, it's looking like the only quid pro quo aspect is that Barack Obama gets to go down in the history books as the U.S. president who reached a deal with Iran, period. Or in other words so far it mostly seems to be yet another instance of a leftist brokered deal with a hostile foreign power in which the U.S. ultimately assumes the bent over with hands grasping ankles' position while the triumphant foreign power laughs and reaches for the jar of lubricant so as to effect a smooth ensuing and lengthy and happy -- er -- ride.

lol, well I hope there is more to it, The Admin was wrong on many, many....many many many ...other foreign policies so statistically it should get ONE thing right, 10 year "Hudna" (cease fire) in return for the entire jackpot was what Hamas offered us and America also rejected it so it shouldn't the case with Iran either, there should be more to it. should be...

Same old dodge that allowed Bush to go to war in Iraq except there it was unannounced inspections of Saddam's palaces.

Maybe you can provide the evidence that Iran has a program in place to develop nuclear weapons. Certainly the American government has been unable to provide any evidence so I am sure that our government would be grateful for any evidence you can provide.

Yep, the true test of spiritual strength is the willingness to go to war for no reason. Bush and Chaney must have been your exemplars of spiritual perfection.

A deal is good for everyone. U.S economy, European economies, Iranian economy...etc...etc...There is a small matter to be sorted out - who is going to keep Bibi on a tight leash? Bibi must be livid right know, bordering on rabid.

Honestly, do you see the U.S congress approving this deal?

Congress promises rough ride for any nuclear deal with Iran

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/07/12/us-iran-nuclear-usa-congress-idUSKCN0PM0M720150712

In any case the rest of the world should just proceed and start doing business with Iran. Europeans in particular. Our economy needs cheap Iranian energy resources.

I think it was very gracious of President Obama to improve the Iranian economy, so they can build nuclear weapons faster.

I agree not many Presidents can say they gave Iran thermonuclear weapons while making U.S. citizens give them billions of our tax payers dollars while simultaneously forcing Israel (our air quotes....ally) to either attack Iran or be destroyed by a thermonuclear weapon. Its a level of dumb the Unit........no.....the world has never achieved before. Congrats leftists....its official youve elected the worst President humanely possible.

The cluelessness, gullibility and naivety that Obama has displayed here is truly mind-boggling.

Far from halting the spread of nuclear weapons, this "deal" will precipitate a nuclear arms race in the Middle East and destroy any incentive on the part of the Sunni Arab states in the region to destroy Caliph Ibrahim's death cult.

All this so Obama can achieve the ANSWERnik dream of appeasing the "Death to America!" crowd in Tehran and continue entertaining the delusion that he can change the attitude and behavior of the thugs who just played him for a fool before the eyes of the entire world.

Ha! Not unless there was some last second stroke of genius from negotiator Secretary of State John Kerry. But Kerry has never demonstrated any genius in regards to anything except marrying into a tremendous fortune. So the odds are against the U.S. or its allies having gained anything genuinely meaningful from this leftwing 'deal'.

    Why yes, yes I can:

One would think that Obama supporters would at least be aware of the illegal efforts Iran has recently been making to get its hands on nuclear weapons technology DURING the much touted negotiations process. But then again the major problem in regards to staying current on such events is that one will actually know what screw-ups the Obama administration and its Secretary of State and President happen to be.
