The Political Forum ownership says they need donations urgently. So lets take a poll and see if the members here would be more likely to give donations if the Forum would do certain things in return. Its a simple poll and I'm not pushing an agenda. But the Forum owners need to open their eyes and be willing to make changes if they expect to get funding from members who don't give money already.

Its a multiple choice poll and your choice will be visible. Fire away!

No org or forum can be all things to all people

I personally wish there were tighter controls on inflammatory speech
Others find this idea to be anathema

The forum has ample opportunity to provide feedback about concerns

If you want a free ride because your concerns are not addressed
    That is your option
Or, you could simply post and donate to other forums more aligned with your preferences

OK, you like things like they are? Guess so, since you are a "donor". One down, hundreds to go.

No, i just posted how i would like the forum to change

I donate because i post here and believe in supporting services i use.... Like Wikipedia
If i objected sufficiently to forum management policies
I would neither post nor donate
In the mean time, i think it would be naive of me to expect that all of my concerns would be adopted as policy and to withhold support until that happened

I think everything is just fine. I donate to the site every so often, ta-ta.

P.S. In light of the poll options I'm not sure any of those things would improve the forum. In fact, I think, some of those options would make the forum worse.

I am a Donor. I think your poll is childish to say the least (didn't vote). There's many other forums for you to live at if this one bothers you (or others) so much!

I'd contribute if there weren't so many people telling me the U.S. supported Nazi Germany in WW II, or that capitalism is the greatest evil ever imposed on mankind.

But I'm still new here. If I stick around, I will probably consider contributing.

Going by what I read about the liberals here, as posted by conservatives, since they want free stuff that others pay for, who would expect them to donate. Against their core values.

Going by what I read about the conservatives here, from their own lips, one would believe they believe in paying their way, and will not accept freebies, for it goes against their core values. So, given the number of them here, the coiffures should be overflowing.

I guess the conservatives are CINOS?

Nah, I think americans are all the same. Want something for nothing, from the elite on top, to the pauper on the bottom. All of them, socialists, but only the democrats admit to it.

I don't know if I want to contribute to a site with so many members who were cheering for the Soviets in the Cold War.

....but it would be quite interesting (if at all possible) to measure the current donors by political affiliation.

Well, my post just got wiped out (?), so let's try again.

For a start, this thread wouldn't even let me vote... (?). Hint: if you and some of your friends use computers that access the same router, you may be counted as being one person. I've run into this before....

I'll register an opinion anyway, and that is that all censorship, suppression, and other manipulation is bull(*)(*)(*)(*)! We don't need to have "moderators" to tell us what to think, or how to express ourselves.

I contribute fairly well to organizations that are free, open, and let me express myself as I wish. And, although I've been posting here for almost seven years, I've never given a penny to this Forum, and never will so long as it practices censorship and subjection of one's opinions to the capricious judgment of "moderators" who, to say the least, vary considerably in their ability to exercise a "moderation" function in a fair, equal, unbiased way....

Why do I post here at all? The Forum has a large number of posters, some of whom are quite interesting, instructive, and thought-provoking.

None of the choices presented is something I support. In fact, some of them I would vehemently oppose. I haven't seen a moderator bias but I don't recall being dinked here for anything either. I recently made a donation because it was easy to do without having to paypal or any of that stuff. Just bought an Amazon card and DM'd the info from the back. That was it. Easiest way to donate I have seen on any website. Removing the word censors and/or loading the place up with biased moderators are bad ideas. Doing away with moderators would flood this joint with Storm Front types who seem determined to take down any forum by antagonizing any poster who doesn't agree with their agenda.

I used to moderate here and can confirm that no amount of heavy moderation, light moderation etc will make everyone happy.

My observations lately is that they've got it about right these days.

Either donate because you like coming here and can afford it or don't. But don't expect your personal preferences and demands to be catered to. Donations buy hosting services, not your own agenda.

I think they should ask you to strike the defamatory language in your "signature".
What proof do you offer than Donald Trump is a pedophile. (I used the correct spelling).

If anything, having language like you have on your :signature" is infantile. Mentally, and spiritually.

But rules is rules is rules
My sig is within the rules
    When the rules change
    I will change my sig

    In the mean time
My sig is a passive aggressive and infantile form of protest
    Thanks for your feedback

Why do people want no moderators? This forum is nice and civil yet I don't get harrassed by mods.

More features might help. I've seen things on other forums like titles (the word "donor" is kinda weak), different colored names, charging for the "mood" tag, selling the flags. Some people might be mad to lose things they already have but I think most of us are here for discussing things and it's unlikely anyone would leave if they lost their free flag.

Interesting! As much as we hear the Libs whining about how Conservatives supposedly dominate this Forum, so far there has not been even ONE vote in favor of having more conservative moderators! What's getting the most support of all? Getting rid of moderators altogether, followed by elimination of the childish, overbearing censorship. Some people need and want censorship in their lives, and we've seen that, too. It will be interesting to see whether the Forum's adults or its children will win this argument....

For me, I donate because I enjoy the service provided, and because I block all their ads and thereby deprive them of that revenue. If there was an improvement I'd like to see, it would be that the forum completely hide threads started by people on my troll (ignore) list, and also hide reply messages that contain quoted content from them.

As an aside: It would be interesting to know the ratio of conservative to liberal donors. MODS: Is there a publicly available list of donors, so that such an analysis could be done?

For the same reason that I despise censorship, I don't have an "ignore list". I prefer to take both cheers and curses with equanimity, and have found more than once that I can learn a lot from people I don't necessarily agree with at all!

That's the whole thing I'm trying to get across here -- that being a part of a public Forum means that we should be open to every thought, and every person's manner of expressing it. Censorship is reflective of tyrannical, dictatorial, closed minds, and I would have thought that, by now, in 2015, we'd have seen the last of it long ago. In my opinion, putting people on an "ignore" list and interacting only with those who echo our own attitudes and beliefs is, to say the least, uninspiring....
