He's right. Next thing you know, the liberals will start criticizing Steven Spielberg because he didn't cast any black germans in Saving Private Ryan.

I like Idris Elba and I think he'd make a fine Bond.

Aside from "The Wire," I can't possibly see how Elba is "too street" for James Bond.

a Black James Bond? Obviously they want to kill the Franchise, no other explanation. Would he be ordering a 40 ounce Malt liquor, shaken not stirred?

I think Idris Elba would make an interesting Bond. Bond is an outsider. In the books he is half French. So long as they didnt compromise on Bonds Britishness I see no reason not to use him. I could also see Bond as a woman if all other factors are right

I'll accept a black James Bond as soon as we get a white Shaka Zulu.

This Hollywood fad lately of taking traditional white characters and giving them blackface as a means of racial pandering is pathetic.

If you have a non-ethnic English character, you're sacrificing the Britishness of the character. It's a trendy political statement which falls flat.

Connery wasn't English. If Elba is British however and could fit perfectly into the bond model. However it is unnecessary I think Mr Craig is the perfect bond for me.

Yes and No. It would be completely impropriate to have Bond have an American accent for instance or for Bond to have a working class English accent or a Jafraican accent. If Elba played bond it would have to be with a public school accent.

I honestly think he has what it takes to pull off bond. He has the swagger bond has as well as the gentlemen persona and can pull off being calm and collected while he is kicking ass.

Just as long as they don't make him Jamarcus Bond agent 187.

I disagree, as I said in another thread about this. He is not that great.
There are other better black actors to choose from.
Not that he stinks, just not that great.
I also think Bond is a white guy. Period. Not gay, not black, not Spanish. White Englishman.

Well looks like it Its going to be Damian Lewis in any case which is a very good match. He even went to exactly the same school as Bond.

Why didn't they get a white guy to play Ray Charles?

Definitely not gay or Spanish or Arab , but why not a black Englishman ? There are black special forces and such so why couldn't a black Englishman be a bond?

One tradition. Two, it just plays to politics. There is no reason for a black Bond. Ever since the late 50 early 60s its been a white Brit.
Nothing wrong with that. And nothing against black actors.
I am a big Denzel Washington fan.
Plus, I really don't think he is that great an actor out of what I have seen.

    You
I mean yeah I kinda get what you are saying, it would be like getting a white guy to play shaft. I dunno, just something about this guy makes me feel he could pull it off nicely though.

A writer writes something, you don't like it, so you bring it to the Civil Rights forum.

    Is Craig quitting? Let go?

    Edit: Never mind....

Damian Lewis and Idris Elba may already be the favourites to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, but fans seem to be forgetting that actually, the current 007 has no plans to retire anytime soon.

The British actor will reprise his lead role in upcoming movie Spectre, after proving a box office hit in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, but admits he finds the fitness training hard.

“I work myself to death. It’s getting hard, but such is life. I’ll keep going as long as I’m physically able,” Craig told the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine recently. “It’s an honour to play [Bond]. I get such a big kick out of doing it. I’m contracted for one more but I’m not going to make predictions.”

Dear god don't be that desperate as to not acknowledge the difference between fantasy and reality just to try and prove a point. It shows weakness in an already weak attempt to make a strong point.

What are you talking about. I just don't see him as a good actor for that role. Get out of left field.
