If the child to be aborted will be healthy if brought to term, why can't the woman simply bring the child to term and put it up for adoption.

I am very uncomfortable with late-term abortions, if the child has no health issues and the child is causing no health problems to the mother.

Late term abortions aren't done if neither fetus nor woman has a health issue. Don't believe the hysterical rabid Anti-Choicers.

Now, for adoption: It requires a woman to donate 9 months of her life to temporary and permanent damage to her body and possibly even, in rare cases, death. It causes severe discomfort. It causes the pain of labor.
It affects her financially, it may cost her job, there may be educational and/ or career setbacks .
All that to give the kid to someone else!!?? No, that would be stupid.

NO woman is obligated to go through all that so other people feel all self-righteuous....

supporters of Late-Term abortion want it allowed in cases that a healthy viable fetus may harm only the mother's mental health.

    i cannot support that

I've read about a case where a rape victim attempted suicide 3 times. You wouldn't allow her an abortion?

Late term abortions are not "elective" abortions based upon the desire of the woman. They can only be performed based upon a medical diagnosis and it often hinges upon whether the woman will even survive if she continues the pregnancy. The operation itself also has risks to the woman's health.

In the end only about 2.5% of abortions are late term abortions and they're not all that important in the overall abortion debate. Some consider the medical diagnosis guidelines to be too liberal but only few (about 7%) believe that a woman should die for the fetus by banning all late term abortions.

And THAT, my friend, is why woman and their doctors should make the decision. Not you, not me, not the legislators.

and yet you have no problem making crack, heroin, and other dangerous drugs illegal.

so obviously one's body isn't simply the property of the person, and they can do whatever they wish to it for whatever reason.

society has laws, often laws about what we can do to ourselves.

You make a bold, and incorrect, assumption. I do not agree with the illegality of any drugs for personal use. I don't agree with seatbelt laws either. Society has many laws that I do not agree with.

How 19th century. Did you know mental health can be just as important as physical health....mental health is a disease like any other disease.

Hopefully you at least changed your mind on adoption.

How very nurturing of you. I believe people should be free to make their own decisions regarding things that do not effect you.

    pathetic strawman attack.

of course I want to protect women from harmful things.

but I also know the difference between a tiny blob of cells and a viable human being.

and unless this viable human being is seriously deformed, going to kill the mother or seriously injure the mother, it should be brought to term...and given up for adoption,

Sorry, I will never believe YOU would volunteer for the following:It requires a woman to donate 9 months of her life to temporary and permanent damage to her body and possibly even, in rare cases, death. It causes severe discomfort. It causes the pain of labor.
It affects her financially, it may cost her job, there may be educational and/ or career setbacks .
All that to give the kid to someone else!!?? No, that would be stupid.""""

And even if you could or would (which I doubt) that doesn't mean everyone should be FORCED to donate their body in that way.

Would you be OK with being forced to donate your kidney to someone else? FORCED. ?

WHY do you have such a hard time understanding this simple fact. late term abortions ARE ILLEGAL UNLESS the fetus "is seriously deformed, going to kill the mother or seriously injure the mother""...

    WHAT can't you understand ????

many states allow late-term abortions, simply to protect the mother's "mental state".

Her "mental state" may "simply" cause her to be suicidal.

    SO?!

Can you NOT read? """How 19th century. Did you know mental health can be just as important as physical health....mental health is a disease like any other disease."""""

Too bad for you this is the 21st century and mental disease IS a disease....

YOU want a suicidal, depressed and /or sociopathic women to have a baby? How cruel and backwards....don't you care for children?????

You are simply floundering and STILL can't address that inconvenient truth on adoption, can you?

Yeah, why can't mothers just throw away children after birth? You know, we'll just all wink and call it "putting it up for adoption."

Oh, btw, how many children have you adopted?

Why don't people work an extra part time job and give it to poor people? Why don't people clean other people's houses and offer free daycare at night so single parents can work? Why don't people volunteer to be infected with non-fatal diseases to assist in finding a cure?

^ All that is less than a woman volunteering risking being killed or permanently crippled in child birth to then throw the child away for what men such as the OPer are uncomfortable with. That is what is most important, that he is untroubled about things that have nothing to do with him.

Two men experience going thru labor -

And women go thru this for hours, and those men had no risk of tearing, being crippled for life or dying.

Every prolife man should have to go thru 12 continuous hours of the above session.

    - - - Updated - - -

All child births have that risk.
