    Thanks Obama!

This is what happens when you implement the largest entitlement program in U.S. history, raise taxes on the rich and continually attack businesses telling them that they "didn't build that."

This country is in desperate need of a new leader who loves this country, loves its heritage and traditions, and loves the businesses and people who built it.

This is a BS article. There is no way 40% of the entire population is not working.

I'm sure it appears that way in a rich, white, progressive suburban bubble, but there are a lot of people in "fly over country" who are having a tough time these days.

So a trend that started in the mid 1990s, persists, and is likely to accelerate over the next decade is President Obama's fault how?

Here's a thought, let's elect a Congress that spends less time on partisan investigations and passing legislation with no hope of passing. Elect a Congress that actually gives a rat's ass about the economy and other topics of interest to Americans.

Aka - "lets have an all Democrat Government again!" They didn't do anything when they had complete control last time, why would it be any different this time?

It's from zerohedge.com which is well known for it's BS articles. Items are published under the pseudonym "Tyler Durden." It was founded by Daniel Ivandjiiski, some (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)bag who was penalized for insider training. It's sole claim to existence seems to be to aggregate all the negative and pessimistic information on the economy.

Basically a consolidation of "worst-case" scenarios.

The site really isn't any use unless you're specifically looking for info with a "gloom and doom" bias placed over it.

Anything's better than that gaggle of fools that currently comprise the GOP. I can't wait until they get the US's credit rating downgraded again so that we can pay even more money on interest payments.

    Thanks Republicans!

Oh, that talking point, again. Too bad it was soundly defeated here:

Even Iriemon liked this post, unable to find fault with it. Good luck keeping that talking point.

    - - - Updated - - -

Too bad the out of control debt that has skyrocketed under Obama is the primary cause of that downgrade. Nothing like increasing principle to increase interest payments.

It's correct. Last month there was just over 94 million not in the labor force. Then almost another 600000 was added to that number from September.

    http://www.cnbc.com/2015/10/02/us-nonfarm-payrolls-sept-2015.html

"The participation rate plunged to 62.4 percent in September, its lowest since October 1977. The total labor force fell to a 2015 low, losing another 350,000 people. The household survey was even worse than the headline establishment number, showing a decrease of 236,000 in employment. However, the number reporting they were unemployed declined as well, by 114,000. Those reported not in the labor force increased by 579,000."

False. Sources were given in the next several posts. Feel free to investigate them yourself. Your left-wing talking point depends on it.

20 million of them are prisoners. More than 40 million are retirees, 10 million plus are stay at home parents where their spouse works.

Stop doom and glooming and get real.

These types of studies usually try to get away with adding children, stay-at-home parents (ones who have never worked, and have always been homemakers), retired elderly, the disabled, and others who do not work anyway, and count them as unemployed workers. The number of people who are of working age, physically able to work, and who actually left the workforce and became unemployed is much lower.

    Prisoners are not counted.

http://www.bls.gov/cps/faq.htmWho is not in the labor force?

Persons not in the labor force are those who are not classified as employed or unemployed during the survey reference week.
Labor force measures are based on the civilian noninstitutional population 16 years old and over. (Excluded are persons under 16 years of age, all persons confined to institutions such as nursing homes and prisons, and persons on active duty in the Armed Forces.) The labor force is made up of the employed and the unemployed. The remainder—those who have no job and are not looking for one—are counted as "not in the labor force." Many who are not in the labor force are going to school or are retired. Family responsibilities keep others out of the labor force.

As for retirees, those are counted, but their rate is going up, not down.

How many of those 10 million stay at home parents were employed, couldn't get a job, the. Just stopped looking and became stay at home parents by default?

Edit: how many of those retirees are in nursing homes and thus not included in the statistics?

How many are applying for food stamps and other welfare programs? So 40% is a real possibility.
