The Golan Heights are a proof of Israel’s expansion projects, stealing land from Syria. Naturally there will be a tsunami of denials that this is so, which I would obviously expect.

Albeit those denials are becoming more half- hearted I have noticed.

With that being said, it does cite ‘Israeli media’. So it could also easily be partial propaganda for some reason.

    **

A big oil deposit has been found in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, with enough reserves to last Israel for decades, according to the country's media.

The Israeli presence in the Golan Heights is in dispute. The region is internationally recognized Syrian territory that has been occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War between Israel and several Arab states. UN Resolution 242 (1967) demands the withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from the territories occupied in the conflict. Israel disagrees with the wording of the resolution, saying the territories are disputable.

Reportedly, the potential production may reach billions of barrels, while Israel consumes 270,000 barrels per day. Israel currently imports up to three quarters of its oil from the semi-autonomous Kurdish region in Iraq, the Financial Times reported in August.
"We are talking about a strata which is 350 meters thick and what is important is the thickness and the porosity. On average in the world strata are 20-30 meters thick, so this is ten times as large as that, so we are talking about significant quantities. The important thing is to know the oil is in the rock and that's what we now know," Israel business website Globes quotes Yuval Bartov, chief geologist of Afek Oil and Gas as saying. Afek is a subsidiary of the America’s Genie Energy.

The reported discovery coincides with the civil war raging in Syria. Israel has been accused of taking advantage of the conflict. The Israeli-occupied Golan Heights also border Syrian territory controlled by anti-government rebels. Israel has reportedly provided medical aid to the rebels(hired terrorist mercenaries - Jack) and has responded to rocket fire from rebel-controlled territory by striking Syrian Army positions. Israel's explanation has been that it "holds the Syrian military responsible for all events stemming from its territory."

Actually the only time Syria used this land is when they attacked as they certainly didn't have control of Fatah when they were using it for their own terrorist purposes. In any case, the message is clear, don't attack Israel.

Israel holds the Syrian military responsible for all events stemming from its territory :applause:
But the fact is that Israel prefer Assad than others.

There were over 60 Syrian Druze villages in the Golan that Israel destroyed in 1967... Israel wanted the Golan since 1950 according to Moshe Dayan because it has water and fertile soil.

You might want to read Bibi's Clean Break Strategy... After taking out Saddam Hussein next on the to do list was "isolate and destabilize Syria"..

Syria attacked Israel in 1967 and lost the Golan Heights. That loss is forever. It's over.

Nope ... If you recall the Israelis bombed Egypt while Egyptian forces were deployed in Yemen because of the civil war there.

The oil discovery won't pan out.. Israel announces the "world's largest reserves" every decade or so........ but they never bore a well.

Please note that even in your pseudo-historical version of events Syria attacks Israel, Israel doesn't attack Syria first.

Read Moshe Dayan and Sharrett.. They planned the 1967 war and calculated their provocations beginning in 1953 because they coveted MORE land, water and fertile soil.

It doesnt matter who owns the land as long as its an American compony that does the digging,

Anyhow, it was said it not worth the expense of digging it out.

With a private company involved and the potential for a large return there I predict this happening more and more all over the world. Fracking has only really occurred on a large scale in the United States but has a promising potential just about everywhere, even countries not known for oil production. If the political and private backing is there for this Genie company as it is rumored, then I dont see a territory dispute or conflict that would prevent that potential income from being exploited.

I doubt that any of the foreign majors would drill on the Golan or anywhere in Israel..

You must remember that in 1998 Israel claimed to have the largest oil reserves in the world.. WND sold stock.. They cheated lots of little old ladies and pensioners out of millions and never drilled a single borehole.

    - - - Updated - - -

Read their journals for yourself, Gilo.. They give details about crossing into Lebanon or Syria with dump trucks and soldiers to steal topsoil.. and shoot those who protested.. Israel wanted the 1967 war very badly.

Fracking is an extremely costly short-term fix. The territory in question is disputed over 'ownership' therefore nobody has any right, in law, to exploit those deposits and claim ownership until and if the dispute is settled.

BS Margot, you excuse the wars on Israeli attacks and ignore the fact Arabs seeked to destroy Israel and used terror gangs to disturb the Israeli civilians lives, one cannot be both decent and deny basic rights of another nation.

Lol Egypt started a naval blockade of Israel which is universally recognized casus belli and shredded the standing armistice agreement and the fact that it was Syria that attacked Israel and not the other way around can't be changed by your feeble and transparent diversion attempts.

No Israeli flagged ship had passed thru the straits in 14 months before the closure and simultaneously Nasser called for a summit to sort things out.. Instead Israel bombed Egypt.. Read Moshe Dayan and Sharrett's journals. Your lie won't stand up to scrutiny.

    Don't get all exited.
The supposed oil is trapped inside the rocks and earth. You cannot pump it, but you have to boil the whole thing + pump it with water to surface the oil.
This is extremely expensive process that is hardly worth, in addition it will cause huge pollution and destroy the whole of the Golan.
No one will ever be permitted to do such a thing in a small country like Israel.
The supposed oil will continue to sit in the ground (if it exists at all) and you can continue to fight who own that non existing oil all you like.

Israel home to world's largest oil field?

U.S. expert plans massive drilling project at Dead Sea

    Published: 10/06/1998

IRVING, TX. — A $30 million, six-to-eight-month project to uncover the
world’s largest oil field atop a salt dome at the southwest end of Israel’s
Dead Sea, is expected to begin in early 1999, according to respected Texas
    oil man, Harold “Hayseed” Stephens.

Until now, Israel’s Islamic enemies have possessed nearly 75 per cent of
the world’s oil reserves with Israel’s supply only a fraction of that. It’s
reported that Islamic nations such as Saudi Arabia, all sworn enemies of
the tiny Jewish state, have trillions of barrels while Israel has only enough oil to supply itself for about one and a half days and depends on
    other countries for the remainder.

Stephens, a one-time “hell-raiser” and former pro football quarterback with
the New York Titans, explained Israeli oil officials had approved his lease
in early September and drilling equipment would likely arrive at the site
    early in the New Year.

Besides being an oilman, Stephens is an ordained minister and said the
drilling of Elohim Parezim #1 (meaning “Lord of the Breakthrough”) in the
Dead Sea area could mean “the entire geopolitical system will be changed
    forever.”

The lease license is called Hesed, meaning “the God that keepeth covenant
for a thousand generations,” and part of that license is the Ness Carveout,
named after the Texan’s company, Ness Energy (Ness in Hebrew means “miracle”).

“God has it all orchestrated,” explained Stephens, who spent Succot in
Israel and visited the Dead Sea site.

Stephens had planned to visit Israel in early June; however, he claimed the
Holy Spirit informed him to wait and let Israeli oil officials come to West
    Texas.

On Friday, June 26, in a hotel at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, history
    may have been changed forever.

It was no ordinary corporate business meeting.

The Israeli delegation was led by Yossi Levy, director/president of the
Israel Oil Company, Inc., from Petach Tikvah, Israel and Haim Tsuff, chairman of the board of the Israel Oil Company, who now lives in Holland.

Astonishing geological and geophysical evidence led to the signing of an
historic agreement between Israel Oil Company, Inc., and Stephens’ “Christian-owned” company, Ness Energy, International.

It is believed that there are vast amounts of oil in the Dead Sea region of
Israel sufficient enough to free the nation from dependence on foreign energy sources and from vulnerability to economic “pressure” to give up land for peace.

After the June 26 meeting, Stephens received the lease from Israel and
then returned to Israel for his 55th visit.

Stephens has relied heavily on the Scriptures and prophetic words, in
addition to the supporting geological studies, during the emotional roller
coaster that’s associated with the oil business.

The Dead Sea, once known as the Valley of Siddim, was in ancient times, a
beautiful, lush region filled with bubbly lakes of oil, according to Genesis 13:10-11 and 14:10 with Jericho being its major trading center.

Then came the dramatic destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the formation
of the Dead Sea. (Genesis 19: 24-25, 28-29)

The Hebrew translation of Isaiah 45:3 reads: “I will shoot up to you deposits stored in valuable dungeon-type containers, so that you will know
that I Am the Lord your God, who called you by name.” However, Stephens had
his own version: “I will shoot up (Texas terms: I will gush up to you) deposits (oil deposits) that are stored in the valuable dungeon-type containers (oil traps) so that you will know that I Am the Lord your God

Who called you by name.” It should be noted, Stephens said, that in Isaiah
45, God is talking to a Gentile, King Cyrus. He also explained that in Isaiah 60:5, “because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.”

Stephens reiterated that a portion of the profit from the massive oil find
will be used in the re-building of the Third Temple in Jerusalem.

In 1993, according to Stephens, more than 100 earthquakes in seven days
rocked the area from Mount Carmel down to the Red Sea, redistributing the
massive oil deposit buried from the days of Lot.

When Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, the southwest end of the Dead Sea
turned into a mountain of salt, and that salt dome stretches nine miles long, 3/4 miles wide and 18,000 feet deep. The salt has acted as a preservative for the past 4,000 years. It doesn’t allow oil to flow through
    it.

“This is the area where Sodom was located,” explained Stephens. “In Genesis
19, God ignited all of the oil and gas in that valley and then it rained
back down and blew a hole 40 miles long, eight miles wide and three miles
deep. Fire and brimstone fell into that hole and they eventually turned to
salt. It made Sodom and Gomorrah oil boom towns.”

Prominent born-again Christian oilmen have drilled in specific locations in
Israel based on their interpretation of various Scripture references. Among
them have been Gilman Hill, Andy Sorelle, Jr., and Canadian Lyle Harron.

Hill invested $6 million at a drill site near Mount Carmel in the ’70s. It
came up dry. Sorelle also drilled during the 80′s, on the Mediterranean,
and spent millions on various leases throughout Israel. Harron spent nearly
a decade at a Netanya lease, just north of Tel Aviv. Even the late Armand
Hammer was dedicated to finding “black gold” offshore in the Mediterranean.

After a tragic car accident involving his family cut short his playing days
with the now-defunct Titans, Stephens returned to Texas to make his fortune
in the oil business, and to the fast life of Las Vegas gambling and boozing.

In January 1978, Hayseed, who had been “partying” for days, had an experience like the Apostle Paul on the Damascus Road. He told Jesus he’d
go anywhere, even to the North Pole. Shortly afterwards, he was holding his
first revival above the Arctic Circle, at Prudhoe Bay, an Alaskan oil camp.
