IMO the most logical thing to do to prevent mass killings is to get rid of gun free zones. Almost all mass killings were done in gun free zones. The killers know that at least for a short while he will have time to kill almost as many people as he has bullets. There is no doubt that with any unknown person carrying, a killer may be given pause, and think he may be shot almost immediately upon pulling out his gun. And-----------even if the fact that there might be unknown persons with a gun, and he starts to kill, he will be shot himself. One less killer is a good deal. And--------saving the lives of many is the best deal of all.
Strange-------------so far no liberal seem willing to defend their ignorant gun free zones. Why???? Maybe it because they have worked so well.
Almost all the mass killings were done with guns, let's get rid of guns. Same logic as yours, but makes more sense.
As a liberal I would be all for it and would like to see how the policy would impact future public shooting frequency and severity. But also I would be interested in the potential negatives like a good guy getting shot by the police in a case of mistaken identity, or even a good guy being shot by another good guy or even collateral damage if a good guy does not have the training to be a good shot or mindful of the background and where that bullet will go in case of a miss... etc.
Maybe you should read up on the history of shootings in gun free zones in the last 20 years. Even the mass killing at the Army base in Texas was a gun free zone thanks to Bill Clinton.
I see facts are not relevant to your fantasy. First, George H.W. Bush is the one who restricted firearms on military bases. Second, that a military base restricts who can have guns does not make it a "gun-free zone." Third, your lack of support for your positions shows you are just making crap up. and Fourth, this has been studied http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/04/gun-free-zones-mass-shootings
Why are we focusing so much attention on the tool, and so little attention on what is driving people to commit these acts? The question that begs to be answered is why are people committing these mass murders. It is clearly not the access to guns because people have had access to repeating arms for over 100 years, but the phenomena of mass killing is fairly recent. If you expect success in solving a problem you must first understand the cause of the problem to begin with. Something is driving people to commit these murders and unless we find out what that is, taking away one of the tools will solve nothing, the killers will simply use another tool.
I don't think getting rid of gun free zones is going to stop the continuing problem of gun violence in America.
