Israel is marking on Monday its annual Memorial Day of the expulsion of some 850,000 Jews from Arab states and Iran.

"At Sunday’s weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed that there be an expansion of education on the heritage of Jews from Arab countries and Iran, and that consideration be given to a proposal to establish a Prime Minister’s Prize for academic research into the issue. Hundreds of thousands of Jews were forced to flee Muslim countries in the years preceding and directly after the 1948 creation of the State of Israel."

    ====================================

Someday, the arab muslims and their pro-terror apologists found on these forums and elsewhere, will own up to the tragedy of the mass expulsion of the jews from arab muslim-majority countries, and will prove fair and just compensation for their losses.

Perhaps a 2% tax of arab muslim oil revenues paid into the Israeli treasury to be distributed to all jews would be a reasonable start.

They probably want reparations.. Israel should pay reparations to all those Arab Jews.. If not for European Zionism they would still be living all over the Arab world.

As it is they dribble out in 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973..

    ....Like a clock....one...two...three....

Of course there are those who will lie about the mass expulsion of almost 1 million people - there are still those who deny the armenian genocide and other well known historical events.

Sure, the jews were so, so well treated in arab countries prior to the creation of Israel....NOT.

They coexisted with Arabs before Zionist came. That is a fact.

    Like David Ben-Gurion himself said

let us not ignore the truth among ourselves.’ The truth was that ‘politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves... The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country, while we are still outside

    When?

From what I know about hystory

After Romans roman rule, the whole area became predominately muslim. .

For the longest, Jewish and muslims lived in RELATIVE hormone

Before the 20th century, most Jews in Palestine belonged to old Yishuv, or community, that had settled more for religious than for political reasons. There was little if any conflict between them and the Arab population. Tensions began after the first Zionist settlers arrived in the 1880’s...when [they] purchased land from absentee Arab owners, leading to dispossession of the peasants who had cultivated it.

So it wasn't until Zionist started moving in for political purpose that any real conflict started to arise

During the more than 1,000 years of Muslim rule in North Africa and the Middle East, Jews frequently suffered extreme discrimination, expulsions, massacres, and pogroms, at the hands of the ruling Muslims. This was all centuries before Zionism was a mere concept.

The Jews of Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, all suffered under these conditions. They all suffered from persecution and pogroms.

True.. The Zionists were forever agitating to get Jews to move to Israel.. Before Ariel Sharon got sick he told French Jews that they were in danger in France and they should all move to Israel.. Really ticked them off.

Still I suppose if educated relatively affluent French Jews would pick up and leave France, it would be cheaper than recruiting so many of the ultra Orthodox settlers from the NY.

I read most of it what I got out of it is this.

Other than the Pact of Umar, there was nothing much really. Not anything like the atrocities that Zionist have committed on Palistines

In general, the pact contains a list of rights and restrictions on non-Muslims (dhimmis). By abiding to them, non-Muslims are granted security of their persons, their families, and their possessions. Other rights and stipulations may also apply. According to Ibn Taymiyya, one of the jurists who accepted the authenticity of the pact, the dhimmis have the right "to free themselves from the Covenant of 'Umar and claim equal status with the Muslims if they enlisted in the army of the state and fought alongside the Muslims in battle."

Most Jews who remained in the area converted to Islam.

In fact your links state that Arabs gave Jews refuge during persecution in Europe during middle ages

Jews under Islamic rule were given the status of dhimmi, along with certain other pre-Islamic religious groups.[1] Though second-class citizens, these non-Muslim groups were nevertheless accorded certain rights and protections as "people of the book". During waves of persecution in Medieval Europe, many Jews found refuge in Muslim lands.[2] For instance, Jews expelled from the Iberian Peninsula were invited to settle in various parts of the Ottoman Empire, where they would often form a prosperous model minority of merchants acting as intermediaries for their Muslim rulers

That's from one of the links you provided

    Here's more from those links

The Ottoman Empire served as a refuge for Jewish refugees from Spanish empire, especially after the fall of Muslim Spain in 1492 and Edict of Expulsion. This continued through the Roman Catholic Inquisition, as secret Jews and forced converts continued to flee Spain. The Maghreb from North Africa similarly found refuge among the Ottomans, as large Arabian cities created their own restrictive Jewish quarters

I haven't seen anything like destroying villages or demolishing homes or any mass killings.

Okay so Israel should have Arab money as compensation. What will Israel do? Leave the west bank? Accept the Saudi plan? Nothing?

    What say you?

no one is "expelled" unless there is an actual expulsion order, or they at least lost their citizenship.

several hundred thousand Jews WERE actually expelled or lost their citizenship, but many did not and simply chose to leave due to the adverse conditions.

How much land was stolen from the Jews... 100,000 sq. km or so, about 5 times the size of Israel?

I don't see how you can feel sympathy for "refugees" who found a country that was more than happy to let them in.

Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt are soo happy to have Palestinian refugees that they refuse to allow them citizenship, govt. jobs, or even the right to leave the refugee camps.

Well, duh. They belong in their homeland. Giving them citizenship would mean accepting defeat.
