8:04 p.m. ET update: President Obama says "this was an act of terrorism designed to kill innocent people."
President Obama will address the nation Sunday evening on the San Bernardino shootings in a rare speech from the Oval Office.
The White House announced the speech as a new addition to the president's weekend schedule, with it scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Sunday.
It will be Obama's third Oval Office speech as president, his first since announcing the end of U.S. combat operations in Iraq on Aug. 31, 2010.
Obama met with his national security team to receive an update Saturday morning on the San Bernardino shooting, reaffirming the FBI had not yet found any indication the two shooters were part of any larger international terror networks or cells.
President Barack Obama is poised to deliver a rare prime-time address from the Oval Office on Sunday to reassure anxious Americans that his administration will protect them from the threat posed by ISIS.
The speech comes amid rising public concern about terrorism following last week's shooting in San Bernardino, California, in which a Muslim couple killed 14 people and wounded 21 before dying in a gun battle with police.
His remarks also come as public distrust in his management of the U.S. anti-terrorism effort, which was once a strength that helped him re-election in 2012, is rising. Terrorism, national security and the place of Muslims in U.S. society have become a contentious 2016 campaign issue and are dominating the political conversation more than at any time since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

 

He announced nothing new. We're not going after ISIS.

Obama still doesn't have a strategy for dealing with the "JV" team.

Obama failed to mention that his White House has denied 80% of the bombing missions being carried out against the "JV" team aka ISIS.

Obama as usual kept defending Islam while attacking guns.

Obama seems to be misinformed just like President Clinton was, Al Qaeda declared war against the USA back in 1996 not on 9-11-01.

Obama didn't mention that it was his administration that issued "JV" team member Tashfeen Malik a K-1 visa and an Obama green card.

Nothing new, Obama is still an incompetent President and a national security risk.

 

Of course ignoring the fact that ISIS has been calling for Muslims everywhere to commit Jihad.

 

Hypocrisy in progress.

On one hand, asking congress to bomb and send troops to kill more Muslims

On the other hand, asking Americans to tolerate and receive Muslims with good will.

'Staggering': 680,000 Muslims to U.S. under Obama

 

Everything Obama said tonight boiled down to more of the same, and repeating the liberal agenda. How is the US going to confront ISIS/ISIL: More of the same. This strategy is not working. The concept of using others to fight our wars, will never work. No one will not commit combat troops for the benefit of a country that refuses to commit their own. You can not fight the war on terror by proxy.

As far as what we are going to do at home Obama repeated the liberal agenda. Block people that are on the No-Fly-List from buying guns. No matter how many times it is pointed out that the shooters were not on this list, and that thousands of law abiding citizens are mistakenly on this, proves that the policy is a mistake. Yet the President still pushed it in his speech. He called for greater scrutiny of people entering the US without visas, and a specific visa program. Do you think that he forgot that he threatened to veto a Congressional Bill to block refugees from Syria until the Federal Government certified they weren't terrorists?

In the end, the President's address demonstrates that he will put his political agenda ahead of American safety every time.

 

And that's criminal.

 

I'm more bothered by certain people's habit of blaming all Muslims for what a few extremists do. I can understand 0bama's desire to counter that, as it's dangerous to innocent American Muslims for other Americans to paint them all as terrorists. Neither he nor I wants to see them treated like Jews in Nazi Germany -- and yes, the Jews were similarly scapegoated and blamed en masse for Germany's problems at the time.

I know this is pointless and that you won't even reply back... But how? In what way? He didn't even say ANYTHING!

No one wants to attack or insult Muslims in the U.S. That's a straw man.

What Americans want is for the U.S. to attack ISIS and destroy it. Obama has no desire to do that.
