It was brought to my attention last night that there is a movement in the name of political correctness to have a movie clip scrubbed from the Internet, especially Youtube.

    What say you ?

Fitzhugh Lee and 'Dixie' at West Point

The saying is the side that wins a war gets to write the history of the war.

Those of us who grew up when those who fought or lived during the American Civil War aka "The Great Rebellion" were still around were taught one thing, Starting in the mid 1960's PC multiculturalist revisionist started rewriting the history of the American Civil War when those who were there and fought in that war or lived during the era were no longer alive. They went as far as demonizing the Confederate battle flag.

Should this movie video clip be scrubbed or censored from the internet ?

The PC revisionist say yes, what say you ?

The sound of Dixie does make your American patriotic blood flow wouldn't you say ?

It's a touchy matter. Originally, I thought West Point was going to have to make the decision but I may have been wrong.

Is this at the behest of the new female they put in charge of West Point?

From an e-mail I got from a professor at the University of California Irvine, your usual progressive students. I think the ring leader is an illegal alien or may be an anchor baby what the heck they are both the same. I believe his name is Senor Matthew Guevara.

The same students who demanded that the American flag not to be displayed on campus.

Why UC Students Voted to Remove American Flag -> http://townhall.com/columnists/denn...ed-to-remove-american-flag-n1971676/page/full

First they went after the American flag. Next they went after a battle flag. Now they are going after "Dixi."

Fitzhugh Lee was one of three ex-Confederate general officers who were made major generals of United States Volunteers (the others being Joseph Wheeler and Thomas L. Rosser). Fitzhugh Lee commanded the 7th Army Corps in Cuba during the Spanish-American War.. He was military governor of Havana and Pinar del Río in 1899, subsequently commanded the Department of the Missouri, and retired in 1901 as a brigadier general, U.S. Army.

I suppose the U.S. Army needed those "traitors" after the American Civil War.

So.....you heard about this from a professor.....who describes 'anonymous' 'progressive students'......

So no evidence that anyone is actually trying to do anything but you are all in a dither about it anyway.

So I held my nose and watched your Youtube clip- not because of 'Dixie' but because I hate watching any video without knowing what crap might be in it.

So it was a clip from a movie- that included the tune "Dixie"? LOL.

The only reason why this clip might be taken down from Youtube is for possible copyright violations- the clip doesn't credit the movie it was clipped from.

As far as the tune Dixie being offensive.....it isn't to me.

And how can I argue with Abraham Lincoln

On 10 April 1865, one day after the surrender of General Robert E. Lee, Lincoln addressed a White House crowd:

I propose now closing up by requesting you play a certain piece of music or a tune. I thought "Dixie" one of the best tunes I ever heard ... I had heard that our adversaries over the way had attempted to appropriate it. I insisted yesterday that we had fairly captured it ... I presented the question to the Attorney-General, and he gave his opinion that it is our lawful prize ... I ask the Band to give us a good turn upon it.[80]

Nobody but RWNJ's care about this clip. All of 65 people have posted comments on it. None of the posts demanded the clip be pulled down- but one RWNJ worried that someone would....

    Just an e-mail.

I searched Google News, didn't see a thing.

May be a developing story ?

The professor was the same who informed me some years ago of a female student who broke down in tears while taking the SAT when the batteries in her calculator went dead. When did they start allowing students to use a calculator while taking the math portion of the SAT ??? They have already dumbed down the SAT three times to get the scores back up to where they were during the 1960's and back then you weren't even allowed to have a slide rule in your possession while taking the SAT.

But I would say this is one of the best versions of "Dixie" I've ever heard., wouldn't you agree ?

I got one once saying that Nigerian royalty was trying to move their fortune out of the country, and if I gave them my checking account number, they would indeed cut me in on some of the profits.

Do you think that was true?

Can't say I can think of versions to compare it to- Dixie is very catchy. It was a nice version.

Youtube has quite a collection of Dixie versions- this is a nice one
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmnkL4CR1HY

And one I find pretty saccharine

The attempts at censorship appear to be in the mind of your professor.

Lincoln made a good point, they captured "Dixie."

It could also be said the Confederate battle flag was also captured. The PC hate mongers seem to forget that.

Germany doesn't have a First Amendment.

If Germany had a Second Amendment they would likely has a First Amendment.
