Military robots......where do you think the US stands when the Pentagon is worried about China and Russia and their advancement with Robotics? Even the Japanese are moving towards Robots in Human form. Individually, there is battlefield value of these robots both in civilian SWAT and counterterrorism missions, as well as for military operations, with even greater value of them as a team, becoming a force multiplier for units like infantry and combat engineers.....snip~ http://www.popsci.com/chinas-new-triple-team-fighting-robots The Pentagon is Nervous about Russian and Chinese Killer Robots ..... The Pentagon is rushing to keep up with Russian and Chinese efforts to develop highly autonomous robots in Russias case, ones capable of independently carrying out military operations, deputy defense secretary Robert Work told a Center for New American Security national security forum today. Work spoke broadly of the U.S. military need to dominate in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Its a key feature of the so-called offset strategy, a Pentagon research initiative meant to secure technological advantage over adversaries (offsetting similar gains by those nations.) But, said Work, that the way the United States goes about designing and especially employing AI is distinct and more human reliant than Russia or China......snip~ http://www.defenseone.com/threats/2...chinese-killer-robots/124465/?oref=d-dontmiss
The US Thinks China May Have Stolen Military Robot Designs..... U.S. officials have ordered an investigation into whether China might be gaining an unfair competitive advantage in the robotics race..... This week, the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission began looking for analysts to write an unclassified report on Chinas current industrial and military robotics capabilities, including the origins of those capabilities. The commission also intends to gauge the chances Chinas automation efforts could eclipse comparable Pentagon initiatives, including Offset, a Defense Department research initiative meant to offset technological advances made by adversaries. In addition, the U.S. government seeks to learn the names of R&D organizations in the Chinese robotics field and locate any ties to the PLA. While antisatellite systems havent been much of a threat since the Cold War, Chinas space activities suggest the nation state is tailoring machines to potentially eviscerate U.S. space assets, according to the commissions 2015 report to Congress. The Chinese systems consist of a satellite armed with a weapon, commission officials said. Once close enough to an American target, the machine can deploy the armament against or intentionally crash into the target satellite. China is setting a strong foundation for future co-orbital antisatellite systems that could include jammers, robotic arms, kinetic kill vehicles, and lasers, the report stated.....snip~ http://www.defenseone.com/technolog...n-military-robot-designs/125168/?oref=d-river This is another reason why we need to stop sharing our tech.
