There is too much evidence that supports the deliberate lies that led up to Bush's invasion of Iraq.. and plenty of evidence that it was in part orchestrated by the dual citizen neo-cons of the PNAC. Today these same people are opposed to the Iran nuclear agreement.

    Excerpt:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3227506.stm

Former UN chief weapons inspector Scott Ritter said the disinformation drive in the late 1990s was designed to shift public opinion.

Mr Ritter has been a vocal critic of military action against Iraq since leaving the inspections team in 1998.

A spokesman for MI6 said the allegations were "unfounded".

He told reporters in the House of Commons that he was involved personally with Operation Mass Appeal between the summer of 1997 until August 1998 when he resigned from the UN.

Mr Ritter said the MI6 operation was designed to "shake up public opinion" by passing dubious intelligence on Iraq to the media.

The so-called "non-actionable intelligence" dealt with Saddam Hussein's alleged campaign to possess and conceal weapons of mass destruction. He said the intelligence was "single source data of dubious quality".

Mr Ritter claimed this was the first time the existence of Operation Mass Appeal had been revealed.

He urged MPs to hold a fresh inquiry in the use of intelligence in the run up to the war against Iraq.

He declined to give specific examples of disinformation but said he was prepared to reveal details before a public inquiry.

    Dubious data

Mr Ritter said: "I was brought into the operation in 1997 because at the UN... I sat on a body of data which was not actionable, but was sufficiently sexy that if it could appear in the press could make Iraq look like in a bad way.

"I was approached by MI6 to provide that data, I met with the Mass Appeal operatives both in New York and London on several occasions. This data was provided and this data did find its way into the international media.

"It was intelligence data that dealt with Iraq's efforts to procure WMDs, with Iraq's efforts to conceal WMDs. It was all single source data of dubious quality, which lacked veracity.

"They took this information and peddled it off to the media, internationally and domestically, allowing inaccurate intelligence data, to appear on the front pages.

"The government, both here in the UK and the US, would feed off these media reports, continuing the perception that Iraq was a nation ruled by a leader with an addiction to WMDs."

A spokesman speaking on behalf of MI6 told BBC News Online: "The allegation that Ritter was using MI6 material is unfounded."

The operation was launched "in the late 1990s on Tony Blair's watch and saw claims crop up... about Saddam developing nerve agents and other evil super weapons of doom. These appeared in newspapers in countries like Poland or India or South Africa. Nations that were all non-alighned at the time".[3] According to Mackay 'once the stories appeared in a foreign paper... British reporters would leap on them joyfully as free copy and reprint them back home'.[4]

'The government has admitted that Operation Mass Appeal did exist', writes Mackay.[5]

Mackay reports that Scott Ritter was involved in the operation and that according to Ritter he 'met two men and a woman from MI6 at a lunch in London in June 1998 to discuss Operation Mass Appeal'.[6] Ritter states that "What MI6 was determined to do by the selective use of intelligence was to give the impression that Saddam still had WMD or was making them, and thereby legitimise sanctions and military action against Iraq".[7

Uhhh, forgive me if I am wrong here. But I do not think that President Bush (41 or 43) was in charge of anything in the "late 1990's".

And never mind the weapons that have been found over and over throughout the region in the years since. Everything from warheads discovered by US forces during the invasion, to weapons turned over by the Iraqi government afterwards. To those reportedly cropping up in the region used by ISIS.

Sorry, but hard to take something like this seriously, with all the refuting evidence on hand that points to something completely different.

And of course are his other claims, like the following:

Of course, we all know how accurate that was, do we not? Along with his claims that a "War with Iran" began in 2002, and full invasion would commence "any day now".

And of course are his 2 seperate arrests (2001, 2009) for attempting to solicit minors for sex.

To be honest, he is considerd by most as a political hack and has lost any credibility he ever had over a decade ago.

I don't know whether the charges against Ritter were bogus or not.. Was he convicted?

I do remember the claims that Saddam was trucking his WMDs back and forth from Sudan to Syria.

    None were found in Iraq.

Do you remember the booze wars in Arabia .. They were blowing up Brits.. That was MI6 and they got caught.

Have you read the Chilcot Report?

    You could be right......
but there also seems to be an element of guidance from an even higher intelligence......

perhaps those UFO's that Hillary hinted about during her campaign.

Oh my goodness, lots of them were found in Iraq.

Heck, WikiLeaks has released thousands of documents about the weapons found in Iraq.

The Iraqi signed the UN Chemical Weapons Treaty in 2009, they turned over 2 bunkers filled with chemical weapons to be destroyed at a later date.

I always want to smack my head whenever people repeat that coprolite "no chemical weapons found", they were literally found all over the place, and were found even into the months of the final US pullout.

Heck, in 2014 ISIS even captured the munitions plant where weapons were still being held awaiting disposal.

You have no evidence that the JEWS in Project for a New American Century were all dual Israeli citizens.

Your link is from 2003. I'm trying to figure out the current relevance of this. Also, tell me more about these "dual citizen neo-cons of the PNAC." Is this really another anti-Jew thread that you are trying to slide in?

Oh, in the last 16 years we have seen bits and pieces of these old chemical munitions popping up here and there. Some were used by insurgents in IEDs, even ISIS tried to use some that it had found scattered here and there (as well as use some old manufacturing equipment).

Now in the hands of a state actor, such munitions can easily be "reclaimed" and returned to potency.

In the hands of the more stable ones (powdered mustard for example), one merely needs to reprocess it as in storage it tends to "clump". Remove the material, essentially sift it as you would flower, re-assemble with new explosives and you have a new shell. For Anthrax since it is a biological you do the same. Remove the biological, replace the explosives, put the biological material back into the incubator (where it will consume the dead cells and create new ones) then put back into the shell. For wet ones like liquid mustard, you basically just remove them and re-mix the liquid and put it back in.

Now for some of the more exotic chemical weapons (Sarin), they are generally stored as binaries. You simply replace the chemicals that have degraded with fresh ones and once again replace the explosives.

The US did this exact same process every few years when we stockpiled such weapons. Most of our inventory (including conventional weapons) only has a storage time of around a decade. After that they are pulled out, examined, and anything that looks questionable is replaced by experts.

Now with the items being found in Iraq, they are still dangerous. Highly toxic, with unstable explosives that could either detonate if looked at funny, or could never detonate no matter what you do to them. And the lack of any kind of experts in servicing these weapons means those that did try to use them really did little more then replace the primer and main explosive and set them off.

Clumped mustard or anthrax simply does not disperse as weapon should. Degraded binaries in say Anthrax is much the same, a highly watered down weapon that is nowhere near the lethality of the original.

All still deadly, but nowhere near what they were designed to do.

We know ISIS tried some sarin-type weapons, none of which appear to have been very effective. The same with their attempts at a liquid mustard gas (specifically in 2016 when they fired mustard weapons at US soldiers in Mosul). The weapon appears to be old Iraqi military, and dated to the mid 1980's. No maintenance had been done on it in over 2 decades, and what they got was mostly a chemical sludge as the chemicals had long ago separated into their own components.

To show in a non-military aspect, think of a chemical attack as Bophal, India. That would be just like an actual Chemical attack. And the use of such highly degraded weapons as almost any Super Fund site, from Love Canal to Long Beach. Dangerous and potentially deadly long-term? Oh hell yes. But nobody dies because they simply walk through Hunter's Point, California or the old Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

I love how some keep telling themselves that.

Even though Iraq themselves turned over large stockpiles to the UN in 2009, including "two bunkers with filled and unfilled chemical weapons munitions, some precursors, as well as five former chemical weapons production facilities". Wow, how in the hell were they able to turn all of that over to the UN if they did not exist?

In fact, it took until 2018 for the last of the weapons and facilities to be destroyed.

    https://www.opcw.org/media-centre/n...gratulates-iraq-complete-destruction-chemical

And of course however much they may love Wikileaks, they have this amazing ability to completely ignore and dismiss any of the tens of thousands of documents in it released talking about the discoveries of chemical weapons.

But if none were found, then why all the information that is readily available through sources like Wikileaks and the UN which state otherwise?
