At least he didn't fall for the preposterous demands from various self-seeking political do-gooders (no names, no pack drill but Jeremy Corbyn would know who I mean ) and opportunistic, sorry, I meant to say well-meaning 'charities'? to take in 3,000 (which would have turned into 5,000) otherwise that would have been the UK's equivalent of Germany's 'come one come all' mistake. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if his faux compassion got the better of him, and he appeased the said do-gooders. That really would be the end of the UK.
Actually, I think the reverse. I heard today that we're talking exclusively 16 to 17 year olds, ie. as old as possible while still being able to invoke exactly that image of cute and photogenic. When we think "children" we visualise a child about 9 years old. We definitely do not think 17 year old quasi adult. But this appears to be the proposal.
if this batch of Refugee keeps behaving badly, I say turn down all the Refugees for 30 days, why, that why the next batch known, misbehave and no one goes... then the refugees will start self policing themselves
Fair comment. Imagine the infrastructure and ongoing expensive bureaucracy which would be needed to look after kids from toddler age upwards? As soon as they're here I predict a flurry of enquiries based on 'I think my child is in the UK - can we come and look for him/her please?' And once they're here they won't want to go home - whether their kid is here or not? God we're such suckers! As I said this is going to be as bad as the situations in Sweden and Germany - or worse.
And keep in mind: A 15 year old refugee stabbed a Swedish refugee center worker to death. God only knows what a 16 or 17 yr old will do.
