I think I read this in Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion about the Lake of Galilee. Remember the New Testament story of the Lake of Galillee erupting into a hurricane-type storm while Jesus and his apostles are out in the boat. Jesus is sleeping and his apostles wake him and ask him how he could sleep when they were about to drown??? LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Take a look at Lake Galilee these days because it never storms on that lake. I mean never ... ever has there been a recorded instance of that Lake erupting into a storm. LOL!!!!!!!!!!
I'd say there are bigger fish to fry in the Bible. Like the story of "the Sun stopping in the sky for an entire day" in Joshua..... an astronomical event that- A. would have destroyed the planet. or at the least B. NO OTHER culture on Earth of that time has ever mentioned or recorded.
God can create the universe but raising a little storm on a lake is obviously impossible for him. Oh brother.
Supposedly god is busy running an entire universe yet has time to fool with a little storm on an insignificant little planet tucked away at the outer edges of a galaxy that is one of trillions. Oh brother.
Getcha a copy of Wycliff's Bible commentary... ... it tells how the winds from the Mediterranian... ... come down the hills around the lake and create storms.
like telling fathers to killer their children just to see if they believe in him strong enough to actually do it
Or telling satan go ahead kill my most ardent supporters family and make him sick to test his admiration for me!
like a jealous ex.. the bible does say that God also goes by the name jealous and if you do not love him, he will lock you in the basement (hell) for the rest of your life as a punishment for not loving him .
The sea of Galillee has frequet and violent storms. Here is your placid lake: When I was there, it was much more violent than the video. The Sea of Galillee is 600 feet below sea level. The temperature difference between the Mediterranian Sea to the West and the mountains to the north and east and the valley of the Jordan River creates a natural wind tunnel which leads to extremely violent storms. Is this a thread killer?
So God can control the weather and create the Universe but can't manage to stop himself from being crucified by the Romans ? Oh Brother you ! Then we are to believe that after arranging to have himself strung up on a cross, this God in some kind of masochistic delirium forgets who he is and starts cursing himself "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me" Then this great God, after going through all the trouble to create this "Christ" story and intervenes to create storms and so on, is then unmoved as for over 1000 years the Church tortures and kills people in his name and he doesn't lift a finger ? Spare me.
