Obviously Trump does not understand how politics work. Far be it from me to defend Ted Cruz, but it is hardly an attack ad if Cruz's ad is telling the truth. Obviously, Trump can't handle the truth too well when it hits close to home. He wants to act like his billions are off limits, all the while trying to sell himself as someone that is worthy to be president and that he can understand the plight of the American people.

And I'm guessing obviously, Cruz doesn't understand how eminent domain works.

I haven't seen his anti-Trump ad, but if there's a smidgen of untruth to it, he should be sued.

It would behoove those who think the case was all about Trump vs. Coking to arm themselves with the facts before they spout off.

The Washington Post did just that...... 6 months ago.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news.../08/19/donald-trumps-abuse-of-eminent-domain/

David Boaz of the Cato Institute has an excellent article summarizing Donald Trump’s shameful history of promoting eminent domain abuse for the purpose of seizing property from homeowners and businesses who refuse to sell to him:

For more than 30 years Vera Coking lived in a three-story house just off the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Donald Trump built his 22-story Trump Plaza next door. In the mid-1990s Trump wanted to build a limousine parking lot for the hotel, so he bought several nearby properties. But three owners, including the by then elderly and widowed Ms Coking, refused to sell.

As his daughter Ivanka said in introducing him at his campaign announcement, Donald Trump doesn’t take no for an answer.

Trump turned to a government agency – the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) – to take Coking’s property….

Peter Banin and his brother owned another building on the block. A few months after they paid $500,000 to purchase the building for a pawn shop, CRDA offered them $174,000 and told them to leave the property. A Russian immigrant, Banin said: “I knew they could do this in Russia, but not here. I would understand if they needed it for an airport runway, but for a casino?”

Ultimately, as Boaz notes, Trump and the CRDA lost in court in CRDA v. Banin, an early victory for the Institute for Justice – the public interest law firm that later litigated Kelo v. City of New London and other landmark property rights cases.

As Boaz notes, this was not the only time that Trump sought to use eminent domain to seize property from unwilling owners. In 1994, he also lobbied the city of Bridgeport to condemn five small businesses so he could build an office and entertainment complex that he absurdly claimed would turn Bridgeport into a “national tourist destination.”

What would be the basis for Trump's suit?

    "Not being nice?"

It's amusing how they always throw in the "elderly and widowed" blah blah.

Read the article. Trump played by the legal rules. He lost. He moved on.

Why would anyone have a problem with that?

The old lady was offered very big bucks for her house. In the end, she was the real loser.

Ads are ads. If we sued everyone who told an untruth in an ad, we would to start with Trump.

Since the Koch Bros are bankrolling Cruz, Trump should see if the Koch brothers have ever used imminent domain. He needs to dig deep! I lost all respect for Cruz when his wife said teddy was going to show us the face of god. Maybe we should starting calling the 2nd Coming of Moses?

You lost respect for a candidate because he could not keep his wife in line? Quite telling. Maybe you should be less disingenuous and state you had no respect for him to start with.

Yep. One would think lefties would be all about Trump in support, since he's pretty much destroying everything they claim to hate. <Rule 2/3>

Sure seems like it. I hope Trump does sue. He already has a lot of Cruz supporters mad at him. It was Trump who brought up the birther issue, something one would expect from Hillary but not from a fellow Republican. It was Trump who called Cruz a liar among other things. Trump sure knows how to make enemies within his supposedly own party. Him and Bush have a feud going on.

I wonder come November if Trump does win the nomination how many of Cruz's and Bush's supporters will stay home and not vote in November. Trump may win the nomination, but by the time he gets through, it will be a meaningless nomination. One thing about Trump, he thinks he can dish it out without any response from anybody else. He just can't take it.

He might, but he does have a very high unfavorable rating, among Republicans. Trump has a 34% unfavorable rating among Republicans. This is important as folks usually do not vote for someone they dislike. Which Trump may find out in November. Trump has had a knack of making enemies of his fellow Republicans. That is if he really is a Republican.

    Untruths...get real supporters.
Impossible mathematically to build a wall given the cost and requirement to maintain it. It's a joke. Making a third world country pay for it and should cost well into the billions to build and millions a a year to just maintain it.The most imbecilic thing anyone has ever proposed. At least 50 billion by conservative estimates and talk about the legal aspects of the fence going in and around private property.....it would take years just to aquire the land through eminent domain.

There are thousands of miles of coast lines where hundreds are already traveling by boats. Plus, there is now a net loss of returning immigrants going back to Mexico becasue of the increase in outsourcing to plants in Mexico. They are headed back for work. The second was a ban on Muslims. It's a religion. They don't have tattoos and they come in all colors. There is no identification unless they stand and raise their hand. Hundreds pass through daily daily in and out of the US on business. There are thousands enrolled in graduate schools through the country that travel back and forth to their homeland and that's just one segment. Islam is the third leading religion in the US ! India has one of the biggest Muslim populations in the world, one of our biggest trading and business partners. The Middle East has only 20% of the Muslim population..the restof the counties where 80% exist, have many friendlies.

This doesn't even count his shifts in policies when ever he gives a speech. The guy supported a ban on assault rifles, not he's an advocate of everything "gun". I could go on but it's too obvious. He is the most dishonest candidate who has ever run. Anyone who supports this guy had better sit down and do a little math and geography It's eight grade level stuff to see how many lis he tells.

Oh, deporting 11 million would cause an uprising and the suits from rich Latino relatives where due justice for everyone is entitled would take a hundered years to adjudicate. Lawyers would bilk the sytem . billions of dollars . Do you think the price of food would be affected ? .....
