The Sudanese army can take pride in its accomplishments and legacy. It has a long experience and historic victories in the fight against rebel movements. Lately, the army has managed to put an end to insurgency which has crippled development in the troubled areas. The army has uprooted the Darfur rebel movements from the region. These rebel groups are now looking for safe havens in Libya or elsewhere. The use of force was not an option, but the army has no way out after the rebel refusal to reach peaceful settlement of the conflict through negotiations. Backed by the Raid Support Force, the army has driven rebels from their strongholds in South Kordofan to launch a new era of development and return of internally displaced people to their homelands. The funds allocated by some foreign circles to the first rebellion initiated by SPLAM leaders in 1982 till now is estimated 60 billion dollars. The funds provided to the Sudanese rebel movements could have developed the entire Sudan (both the south and the north). SPLAM rebels have also the battle despite the advanced weapons, spy satellites and training. The continuing victories over the rebels have made these circle to opt for peace and negotiations which have ended the war and led to secession of South Sudan. The army has also taught the government of South Sudan a hard lesson when their troops attacked the oil rich Hejlij in 2011
