Over the past 20 years, US has become a part of almost all the local and international crises. It has neither played constructive role to help reach peace nor respected the will of the others.

Last week , US Department of State issued a statement criticizing Darfur Administrative Referendum organized April 11-13.The statement said holding a referendum to determine the administrative status of Darfur under the current conditions will not help achieve peace in western Sudan region.

It’s clear that the move casts doubts over U.S. intentions towards achieving stability and a lasting peace in Sudan. The Sudanese people - whom the United States claim helping to achieve stability and political participation - have only got sanctions and embargo instead of fulfilling the promises to provide support and assistance.

Darfur referendum is administrative is different and special in nature. It came in compliance with the will of the people of Darfur to decide the status of their region according to the provisions of the Doha Peace Document.

It’s obvious that US wants to exercise more pressures on the Sudanese government. It also wants to keep the region unstable and the conflict fanning., because the end of the crisis doesn’t help the American interest and foreign policies based on unceasing intervention in domestic affairs of sovereign nations.

Moreover, the negative statement does not serve the ongoing peace process. On the contrary, it increases the intransigence of the rebel movements and their continued refusal of peace.

If the American Administration is right, why it has strongly supported and encouraged the referendum stipulated by the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that resulted in the separation of the South from the mother country?.

Do you see the American double standard and flagrant interfere in Sudan’s domestic issues!.
