Creationist Racism predates Scientific Racism. Religion has been misused just as much as science as a tool to promote racism. Natural selection operates on traits that have adaptive importance. Those that have equal survival value are not clinally distributed.

Do you think that humans were stupid before they left Africa and needed their brains to evolve to survive cold winters? Humans became anatomically and behaviorally modern in Africa. Modern humans also out competed archaic humans like Neanderthal who had lived in the Northern climates longer and were therefore more cold adapted.
It's highly likely that Neanderthals had smaller numbers, and were vulnerable to diseases bought in from Humans.
