Let's say you took a DNA test and found that the results revealed that you have a high percent of another race's genes. For example, you identify as white but find you have 20% African genes or you identify as black but find you have more than 20% of other genes.

Would such a revelation force a change of views regarding race?

It would have no affect on my views, since my views are on a macro level. On a micro level there are awesome people of all races.

I already know who I am, what does it matter what DNA would tell me? I am the product of my life experiences...I have lived and worked in more than 30 different countries in my military career and in the oil industry. I have known and become friends with many different people from all walks of life and religions.

Right, but I'm unclear what perspective you think would be changed by this particular information. What exactly are you getting at?

Honestly, any race-related attitudes. The one attitude I'm most interested in though is if any person has a negative bias towards one race and finds that they are significantly related to that race. I'm interested in finding if their attitude(s) towards that race changes upon receiving new information about themselves.

I don't think the average White Supremacist would change their views if they found out that they had a significant amount of Sub-Saharan African ancestry. The scientifically literate among them already know that all human populations descend from Sub-Saharan Africa so that shouldn't make a difference to them. Plus there are self-hating racists out there. But it is possible that when you have a connection to another race it lessens your hostility towards them. This discussion reminds me of a elementary school classmate of mine who ended up on Oprah because his Grandfather was a White Supremacist and the boy's father was Black. Having a biracial Grandson had a psychological effect on him. He hated Blacks until a Black person became a part of his family.

But as I said some people no matter what DNA or anything says will not care about such connections.

You should have had a choice of "race isn't an issue at all", it wouldn't change my perspective because I think race is nothing more than a tool by some to vomit their bias.

One can be racist, and love a black person at the same time. Racism is a macro level analysis of different groups of people and classification based on results, personal relationships are micro level and individuals can be much different then their tribe.

Fair, but I did add an "I don't know/other" option in there.
