Great post, Putin like many other leaders like G. W. Bush scared the people into voting for their "strong man" appeal by promoting phoney terror alerts.

I can't say the Russians are more ignorant than the people of the Western Civilised societies, becuase they led by the nose of the media (state run like it is in Russia or otherwise) because all media no longer investigates the flimsy claims of the power-elite.
