In my opinion, no. Australia has stopped building public housing estates like were built in the 1950s through to the 1980s. Remember the Housing Commission estates? Also housing all the refugees in one place would be problematic on its own. You'll find refugees will be housed among the general community and spread out.
Upon reflection, you're correct. We couldn't have Sunni and Shia living together...they hate each others guts... I'm assuming our Government is aware of this, of course.....
Isn't there a more fundamental question as to why Muslims are allowed to congregate in one housing estate, without them being subjected to the same anti-discrimination laws being applied to them as anyone else trying to establish a segregated housing estate based on culture? Could you imagine the out-cry from all these do-gooders if an Australian housing estate wanted to exclude Muslims from its community, but it seems these do-gooders have no problems allowing Muslims discriminate against anyone else who is not a Muslim. I think its different because its being created by government. There are no houses there at the moment. Other ethnic settlements were not created on purpose by Government, they just happened because all the people from that culture chose to live in that area.
