“I didn't even know Mexicans were that smart,” Austen quipped to her co-hosts during the FB chat. I think she would not have been fired, if she were an Australian working for Channel Nine in Sydney, but the US media has higher standards for TV broadcasting. Austen graduated from a local college in Florida but she wasn't smart enough to avoid an online gaffe.

Maybe Austen will learn to be a bit more intelligent about what she says now that many people, on the internet, are saying about her: "Hey! I didn't know white people could be that freaking stupid."

Interesting question - firing someone for something the person says while not working. Is that right? What was what she said that was related to reporting sports?

A person says "Trump's a racist" at a nightclub. I know the owner where the person works, who is a Trump supporter - telling the owner what that person said.

The next day at work, the owner says "I heard what you said about Trump and I don't like it, you're fired."

Or a black person is listening to rap in his car to a song praising shooting police. Some informed that person's boss and the guy is fired the next day for it. Or the OPer is fired for what he is posting on this forum.

    No problem with that?

Zuckerberg is proud of himself for that one.

I am a Hispanic, I think she is funny, I would not have had her fired for that.
George Lopez and others have said much worse, Richard Pryor too......

The attractive, 27-year-old host for “Inside the Rays” and graduate of Florida Atlantic University said about her days as a server at a restaurant in Boca Raton that Jewish customers were not good tippers: “The way I used to talk to the Jews in Boca… I just didn’t care. They would complain and (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about everything. I gave a guy, delivered his beer, and he was complaining to me that there was too much head. I knew that he was a stingy a—hole, and he wasn’t going to give me a tip.” Austen told the customer: “Sir, you are the first person who ever complained to me about too much head.”

Worked her way through college and everything. That's one hell of a woman.
