The ones you may or may NOT like, but still consider overrated. Robert Downey Jr Adam Sandler Will Ferrell Robert Pattinson (that skinny, pale, feminine Vampire) Bradley Cooper Toby Macguire (spiderman) Seth Rogan Vince Vaughn Leonardo DiCaprio Sean Penn Ryan Gosling Bill Murray Ashton Kutcher Jim Carrey
I would disagree about Robert Downey Jr and Leonardo DiCaprio. I think they've both done some amazing work. For most TV and Movie, I don't really notice acting unless it's exceptionally bad or exceptionally good, I think both of these actors has done some exceptionally good work.
Halle Berry. Probably more rated for her looks than acting skills and even look-wise, she is overrated imo. Big boo.
Matt Damon Ben Affleck. I have found Penn to be a very good and rangy actor. Just his politics are so f-ed up. - - - Updated - - - Comedians rarely make good "actors". Carey and Ferrell are prime examples of that. - - - Updated - - - Lots of people would have put Jack Nicholson on that list as well. Every movie is Jack playing Jack in a different role. The list also forgot Robert Redford. Decent if he as a good other leading man, such as Paul Newman or Dustin Hoffman. I watched part of the Natural the other night. I fell asleep.
I always felt that way about John Wayne. He had one emotion - angry - and he was always J.W. Downey did a movie where the first half of it he couldn't talk and was only able to communicate by making expressions. He was awesome.
Leonardo DiCaprio Sean Penn Robert Downey, Jr. I don't think these three are overrated. They are all good actors, whether you like their "politics" or not. Personally I think Sean Penn is probably a real arse, but that doesn't mean he isn't a talented actor. Sean Penn: Carlito's Way Mystic River Into the Wild Bad Boys The Thin Red Line Leo DiCaprio: Gangs of New York Wolves of Wallstreet Blood Diamond Titanic The Departed Robert Downey Jr: Iron Man Sherlock Holmes Less Than Zero Zodiac US Marshalls Gothica I think all three of these actors are versatile and very talented. You can either love them or hate them depending on the movie, and that's what makes a good actor.
I want to see Leo's newest movie, The Revenant. Looks awesome. I watched a documentary about that story (it's based on a true story). Fascinating story.
Those I agree are horrible for the most part, especially Will Ferell as I got seriously tired of his dumb ass character a long long time ago. Might I also add Melissa McCarthy to this list. She is just flat out annoying now.
It is lengthy but it is truly worth it. Still think Leo's best work is Catch Me If You Can, but this movie is definitely a top 5 from him and maybe even a top 3 in my opinion.
Identity Theft ruined it for me. I liked her in Bridesmaids (yes I said i've seen Bridesmaids lol) , the woman had me rolling but now it sems all of her characters are the exact same thing. I can only take obnoxious acting and the same sex jokes so many times lol. I havent even seen Hangover 3, not just because she is in it, but after the second one I have had enough.
The first Hangover was funny. I haven't seen the 2nd or 3rd ones. I like Melissa McCarthy in her sitcom, Mike and Molly. That show is pretty funny.
I haven't watched a sitcom since Fresh Prince lol , im spoiled because I dont feel anything can come close to it. Ill give it a look though out of curiosity, I didnt even know she had a sitcom haha.
Define overrated? Some of the above actors make bank for the studios thus they are popular enough to draw big audiences.
Really? There have been some really good sitcoms. Seinfeld, King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond - some of my favorites (although you can only see reruns of them now )
Was usually too busy too keep up with them, and really just not much interest after Fresh Prince. I mean I have checked out a few episodes of the ones you mentioned but I just couldn't stay into them. I admit i am a little harder to please, the last show I kept up with was Spartacus on Starz and that was like 4 years ago when it ended. Also I just find todays comedy is not as great as it used to be when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's . I miss stuff like Weekend at Bernies, Overboard, Fletch, Dazed and Confused, Caddyshack, PCU, Clerks,Friday, DOn't be a Menace, and The Naked Gun. I just can't really enjoy todays comedy all that much.
Seinfeld is from the 80s and King of Queens is from the 90s I think. Those two are my favorite television sitcoms. They are sooo funny.
I have to defend Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey, both are good actors. The issue with Adam Sandler is that he has no incentive to be a good actor, he can make a good paycheck by playing a garbage character. In my opinion though, he is a good actor, and has played dramatic roles before and excelled in them. Jim Carrey is another one of my favorite actors. The man is insane, but he can sure as hell do a good madman. He's also a good comedian, combining goofiness with a type of vulgar humor that I really enjoy. He can be pretty scary-crazy too, and has played a good dramatic role to (The Truman Show is one of my favorite movies).
Dang then it lasted a heck of a long time, didn't it just get cancelled in like the early 2000's? I remember King of Queens because of Leah Remini
I'm not sure when it went off the air, but Seinfeld is one of my favs. It's a great show. Very funny, and the characters have incredible chemistry. King of Queens is great too. Love Leah, Kevin James and Jerry Stiller (who by the way is also George Costanza's father on Seinfeld!)
Shows you how much I know about sitcoms lol. But yeah ill check them out some more if I catch them on tv. That is when im allowed to use it hahaha.
You definitely should. Those are some really funny shows!
I'm personally going to disagree about Vince Vaughn. Many of his roles in big pictures involved tons of improvisational acting. He has created some amazing characters. However his style of acting is certainly not for everyone. I'm just impressed by his improv. - - - Updated - - - I want to hug you right now. I LOVE King of Queens!!! Watch it every night on TV land! Comes on as soon as my watch ends and I get to turn in for the evening.
I liked her sister, Katy Mixon, more. I understand she is going to have her own show now. The episode where she and Molly get stoned and go into the funeral parlor is classic.
