Peppermint. That['s what a friend had told me recently and had read a couple articles on this.......apparently, it's true. Peppermint oil mixed w/water, spray it around your house or a peppermint plant will keep the ugly little critters away from your premises. Went to the store w/garden section the other day and they were all out of peppermint plants. Went to another store, they were out. Looks like everyone has been hearing about this...... Anyway, I like to pass on useful info, so here it is.......
I made my own peppermint spray this year. I just killed my first massive crooked legged ugly spider the other night. So now I'm armed and ready for all unwanted intruders. lol I bought a tiny bottle of it last year and that stuff smells awful full strength.
I heard that if you want to keep mosquitos and flies out of your house, you should hang a small, plastic bag of water (sealed of course) at the top of the door or window opening. This due to them always coming in high, while looking upwards and once they see the water they get disoriented as then they get wide-screen vision so they'd turn around. lol
Yeah, undiluted, it's really potent. A friend did the peppermint oil/water remedy and said her house smells nice. To me, it would be better than using room freshener that has chemicals in it. How did you make your own peppermint spray?
By making it, I actually meant diluted it. I also added spearmint oil. it probably will smell better diluted. ...and true, anything is better than all those chemicals.
Oh, ok.......peppermint & spearmint sounds like a pretty fresh fragrance. Might try that..... If you're anti-chemical like I am, might want to check out Melaleuca products. Have been buying that for yrs for cleaning products, supplements, etc. There's no chemicals in the cleaning products, soaps...... My daughter found that out b/c her daughter was born w/very sensitive skin, breaks out in eczema if her clothes are washed in store brand chemical filled laundry soap. She heard about Melaleuca, bought the clothes soap and granddaughter has no skin problems......
Mebbe dey need to plant peppermint around Australia's grain fields... Australian conditions 'favourable' for mouse plague, scientists warn Tue, 17 Jan 2017 - Rain has created ideal conditions for mice in Australia's breadbasket, a science agency warns.
Thank you HB, that is always good to know. I like anything that is natural and not full of chemicals.
