I should like to point out that nuclear weapons have made the possibility of another world war quite remonte thus saving hundreds of millions of lives. In Israel's case they have saved many Arab and Muslim lives as well as ensuring that another attack from same doesn't result in Israel geometricly increasing their occupation area. Israel has had nukes for a long time. It is the only way they have been able to keep a state in an area of the world composed of muslims, some of which, perhaps many of which, want the jews OUT. Lol I may not agree with all you say but fair is fair, and I appreciate your balance. I support Israel's right to exist but like many Israelis do question certain Conservatives for sure. There are some extremists I just can't support. It is my opinion as well, when doors are closed and politicians don't have to posture, people like Netanyahu are a lot more flexible than you think. As for the nukes, people forget Israel got nukes because it was in fact the Soviets threatening to nuke them that caused them to do this. France in fact built Israel's first nuke reactor contrary to British and US requests not to. The US never wanted Israel to have nukes. However Israel got them because in the 60's the Soviets were the power behind Egypt, Syria, Iraw and even Jordan for awhile pushing war against Israel. In fact the US accused by many as a war monger prevented at least 3 nuke attacks by the Soviets on Israel and Israel shooting back. We came close so close. During the 73 Yom Kippur War when Dayan was caught completely off guard and made a fool of , it was General Sharon in the Sinai who averted a disaster and turned the Egyptians back while the IDF barely managed at first to hold off attacks from Syria. When Israel turned it around the Soviets had a drunk Colonel who prepared to launch nukes at Israel and it was the US that intervened to get Moscow to pull out the Colonel. People forget just how jacked up the Soviets were to take out Israel. The US saw not just Israel but Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Oil states all in danger from the Soviets and in those days the Shah of Iran was a Western ally as was Turkey. Egypt, Syria and Iraq were puppets of the Soviets. Some of us remember the role of the US in those days.
