I think the man is evil, but his approach to the problem might work. You do know that the addicts are perfectly free to get help? If they don't want help and to free themselves, then it is really a suicide call on their part.

His concern is to get rid of the drug cartel that makes a fortune by destroying the lives of others. They encourage criminality since the addicts can't afford the drugs, and have to steal to pay for them. As for booze and tobacco, there is no cartel as far as I know. There is another way though, (although the Philippines is a poor country so it might not be as effective), and that is to give the addicts prescriptions so they can acquire the drugs at a low cost. Once the cartel ceases to make money, then there won't be a reason for them to encourage more addiction.

That is the American way of thinking. When you present all the facts, they focus on the dots. They have absolutely no problem with Saudi regime, but if the same Saudi regime would favour Russia or China, it would all the sudden be painted as the devil.... There's already a SE Asian nation that executes drug traffickers and has for decades............Singapore(generally regarded as one of the cleanest and safest cities in the world with a booming economy).
