Question: Apart from Britain being a land of milk and honey, why is the world and his wife so hell-bent on getting here?

    Answer:

If they could, these 'empty vessels' would welcome the entire world's 'refugees' (note inverted commas  ) to come here. They're so stupid it makes them dangerous!

They’re not. The vast majority of the worlds refugee population (inverted commas or not) has no desire to come to the UK. Of the refugees created by recent events, the vast majority have remained in the region. Of those who have come to Europe, many are aiming for other specific destinations like France, Germany or Scandinavia while others truly don’t especially care, just wanting somewhere safe and stable.

Of those who seek to come to the UK, some will have family or friends already here, some will have English as a second language, some will have got a positive image from British forces operating in their countries. A number will have been conned by the false image many people sought to create that refugees and immigrants who come to the UK automatically get everything they could possibly want – houses, cars, jobs, gold-paved roadways etc. – the irony being these soft-focus fantasies invented to try to force a less favourable environment for the incomers only served to encourage more to want to come.

I doubt they would. This kind of display seems to be more a direct reaction to all of the negative coverage and thinly-veiled hatred that was actively promoted by some. If there hadn’t been the openly negative reactions, I doubt there would have been the openly positive ones either.

I totally agree with you!

It is really shameful, how on refugees is in general bashed. Instead looking on reasons and who caused the situation why these people flee from their homes to a foreign country ... it is more easy to bash on the people.
Sure, there are also other refugees which don't flee from war, but out of more economic reasons ... and yes, there are also some few people of sort of Islamists and terrorists coming with refugees too ... but is this enough to blame all refugees to be a danger?

Some weeks ago we had in Germany the case of a ISIS terrorist who came as refugee and could flee during arresting process (due to silly police and planning), but who arrested him at least and handled him over to Police? Other Syrian Refugees!

I think in the UK is something of experience missing in matter of being by their own some sort of refugee in history and so being forced to hope on help of others. Not far ago you had one hand a big problem with IRA terrorists and on the other hand many Irish people immigrating to the UK for getting a job. Here it was the same that Irish people were generalized under suspect to be terrorists of IRA and not really welcome... and please don't deny this fact, I know to many British and Irish people who confirmed this situation in the 1970's and 1980's ... and I still can remember personally when I had to drive into a British Army camp during my time in German Army and when the guard was directly aiming on us with his rifle during control at the gate (something what never was given at any other foreign Army Base in Germany!).

So it has nothing to do with lefties and liberals and so on, but only with one thing which is forgotten: Humanity!

You and HonestJoe obviously don't know the difference between refugees (to whom we want to offer sanctuary) and economic migrants at best, and potential terrorists at worst whom we don't want, and how can we know who we are allowing into our country? Now stop with the liberal holier-than-thou sanctimony - it's sickening.

I know this difference very well ... but do you know instead making a common generalization of all? Obviously you do by throwing all in one pot!

Not remembering how right you was blaming against the refugee wave from Syria that all are potential terrorists and so let no one in? Sure, there are some terrorists who used this way as ticket to get in and so on, no doubts ... but how many out of how many people who are only fleeing from a war and real threat of life?
Wasn't it right you who was telling "so what" about these Syrian refugees in matter that it is their won problem and instead coming to Europe, they shall better fight for their freedom (and if not told by your own, didn't you support this slogan)?
    How sick is this please?

Sure, there are other sorts of refugees who flee because their economic situation in their country is only a disaster ... as well other are simply fleeing out of hunger and so on. But are these people in general bad for you? Did you think about something in maater of reasons and who caused their situation too?

Finally ... instead the common ridiculous phrase of liberals ... take a dictionary and read the meaning of the world humanity!

    This is very funny :

And so apt. These economic migrants in the Calais camps are 80%+ from North Afrrica & nothing to do with wars in Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan.

They are econimic migrants and we should not accept them.

I did not generalize, I ensured that I made the distinction between refugees who are welcome, and the possibility to a greater or lesser degree that terrorists might be amongst the other classifications, such as economic migrants; that has proved to have been the case in the French terrorist attacks viz. some of them arrived with the refugees???

I will not answer that question because there's obviously a misinterpretation on your part of what I've said, therefore there's the possibility you will also misinterpret my reply to your question, which in turn means I'll have wasted my time.

That's exactly what I said in the first place - that they're not all refugees??? Mrs Merkel might think it a good idea to invite every person from the world's dysfunctional countries to come to Germany, but some of us don't think it's a good idea, some of us think it's a form of madness.

Finally ... kindly do not offer grammatical advice to me; I'm a published author and don't need it! Additionally I'll turn around your advice that I should 'take a dictionary and read the meaning of world humanity' by suggesting that you take one and read the meaning of 'stupidity', because inviting millions of foreigners into your country without even knowing who they are is beyond stupid - as you will soon discover for yourself.

I will not be replying to any more of your posts because of your obvious linguistic limitations, and also because you're not a donor!!

You say that you were a member of the German army yet you seem to be very naïve of army security in times of high alert. Of course you had a rifle aimed at you and probably more than one if you had looked around. Guards were merely obeying the orders laid down; surely you most know this if you indeed were a member of the German army?
I don’t recall any increase of migration to Britain by the Irish at the times of the Troubles. When you think of the actions of the IRA on the mainland it wasn’t the best time to make your home there.
I did two tours in Ireland at the height of the Troubles, I was young but growing up fast.

Yes, I was a soldier and had a rank between Staff Sargent and First Sargent (we have more NCO service ranks in Germany than you).

To your whole answer here these key words, which are decisive:
    - Threat situation!
    - Legal position!
    - Preventive measures!
    - Appropriate safety measures!

So … high alert term means nothing, be more specific!

And you don’t remember any increased migration for Ireland to the UK? Seriously?
Please research about and you will then maybe remember!

    Threat situation!
Every army base was a target of the IRA, they were hit and run attacks as they were never in a position to take on the British army in a full out action, they would have been wiped out.

    Preventive measures!
    Legal position!
On the contrary, High Alert is self explanatory as is Rules of Engagement; they deal with the carrying of loaded weapons in a civilian environment.

    Appropriate safety measures!
In the case you cited they were adhered to. The guy may have pointed the rifle at you but he never pulled the trigger.

And you don’t remember any increased migration for Ireland to the UK? Seriously?
Please research about and you will then maybe remember!

Why should I research, I’m English I and my family live in England, don’t believe all you read i.e. Fox News and their NO GO Zones crap.

Racism is not only wrong, it’s stupid. You can no more judge anyone by their skin colour than by their hair colour. There are plenty of true Brits I wouldn’t choose for my neighbours.
However there are problems with unfettered migration to the British Isles making control an absolute necessity.
Texas has a population of around 27 million, Britain has a population of 64 million but Britain would fit twice within the State of Texas. It should be easy to understand that we haven’t the space to accommodate free access for uncontrolled immigration. We also have an acute housing shortage, making prices out of reach for many and strains on our public services are mounting.

One last point I feel is relevant is when moving to another country the migrant has a duty it accept the laws, language and culture of the county that is now their home.
No one forced them to come, it was their choice and that carries an obligation to assimilate into their new society.
Refuse to learn the language, import their own laws, in which in some cases conflict with the established laws of the land and set up and live in self imposed ghettos, creates racial tension in towns and cities. You simply can’t import a previous way of life in your baggage and transport it to a different culture. By doing so you are fuelling racialism against you by your own actions.
