The medical profession doesn't like motorcycles, automobiles, snow skiing, or sky diving. Really, people shouldn't leave their house unless absolutely necessary.

If you actually read the short article it basically says "we excluded this, didn't count that, ruled out another large chunk of our small sampling, made up some standards, and based upon this we concluded that drug addicts shouldn't have gun in their residence.

 

Only 22%? wow.
I think we're around mid 30's and australia is even higher.

 

There is a lot of societal indoctrination that goes on in America. It's been my mission to poke holes in that indoctrination.

 

And other researchers have found that "More guns = less crime"....

I think that even the folks at the NEJM would concede that the degree to which

would depend on the amount of training & experience possessed by the individual gun owner & the circumstances of each individual case.

Fortunately, in most of the US we have the 2nd Amendment which gives individuals the right to either own or not own a firearm

The flaw in most studies is that instances in which possession of a firearm saved a life are unreported and go quietly unnoticed by cloistered individuals who make these studies.
I didn't report the 3 times that possession of a handgun saved my hide from individuals who were deterred from making my day especially miserable simply because I had a firearm with me.

Would you deny responsible individuals the choice to own & carry a firearm?

Another grossly flawed study, with a bad methodology and worse logic. The main reason for this is, of course, is that the cherry picked data sets they chose cannot possibly prove the conclusion they reached.

Gun Free Zone = Free Fire Zone

 

that is statistically a lie, as has been proven many times

more guns = more dead people

if u support guns u support the deaths of many fellow citizens, many of whom are children...thats really patriotic

 

Folks who don't believe in guns should post a big sign in their front yard "Gun free home".

OR you could say that almost twice as many homicides were committed with a gun than all other methods combined.

No, you could say Kellermann is manipulating the data to reach his own biased and foregone conclusions.

 

And what kind of sign should those who do believe in guns have? How about "Responsible gun owner home. All guns are unloaded and locked in a safe so if you break in I will have no chance of using them to protect myself"

"Second amendment home, please TRY to break in"

 

I agree with the study insofar as if you are living with someone who is homicidal, it is dangerous for them to have easy access to a weapon.

 

Do you use drugs or fight all the time in your house?

 

The NRA is infinitely more of a threat to Americans, than ISIS.

Many gun owners have seen their gun being used to accidentally kill or injure someone. Many thieves have been caught some time after they did the crime

 

if u take out the socially underdeveloped countries (think USA, russia, middle east, some from the southern hemisphere etc.), virtually every home on this planet is gun free - its not a problem anywhere

 

Unlike the NRA which is fair and balanced

 

Many in the UK would disagree. They have more chance of a violent confrontation during a burglary than us. You have no idea about violent confrontations in the homes of Russians nor Chinese nor most ME countries, unless you're willing to attest to the reliability of their reporting systems, thus their criminal justice systems, which we know are far more corrupt and centrally controlled than ours.

 

So don't rely on "studies" done by the NRA. I'm fine with that.
