We always hear about that compromise should happen when it comes to gun control.

Here is my proposal: In exchange for gun controllers getting Universal background checks for all gun transactions (opening up the NICS system to private gun sellers), we implement the "Full faith and credit clause" for concealed carry, which means that if I have a valid CCW permit from Florida, I could carry concealed while visiting any state in the nation, including NY, NJ, California and the pseudo-state the District of Columbia; and silencers become considered as conventional firearms (still need a NICS check, but none of the extra paperwork for NFA).

Yes but no on the silencers. They are just the tools of criminals

Take SBRs off of NFA, too, and start running decisions of the anti-gun Circuit Courts through a conservative SCOTUS.

We could do a lot more on the national level as well

Every time you post you show your ignorance. There are almost 1 million registered suppressors in the US. They're sold over the counter in the UK. They're legal in Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, to name a few.

Did I ask for your personal opinion of me? They are criminal tools....now run along

Please provide proof that suppressors are tools of criminals. I think maybe you get that idea from watching TV and movies.
Many countries suppressors are legal. New Zealand, Poland, Norway and Sweden come to mind. Are these countries particularly gun violence ridden? Especially with suppressors?

Sorry they don't help you defend yourself and have no purpose in target shooting or hunting. They are very helpful to criminals

You cannot provide proof that suppressors are used by criminals. Thats a TV thing. If you can prove it then I am all ears.
Many potential gun ranges have had trouble getting approved due to noise ordinances. If suppressors were not so hard to get then they wouldn't be turned down.
Criminals are not using them where they are perfectly legal and used frequently. Can you point to a country that has an elevated gun crime rate due to suppressors? Lets try and use evidence instead of emotion.

They reduce the sound pressure level (aka noise) from 160dB or so to 130dB, which takes the sound of firing below the pain level. They're extremely popular in the aforementioned countries for just that reason. If they serve no lawful purpose, why are they legal in those strict gun control countries.

Here's a more knowledgable liberal's view on suppressors:

Ear protection is already mandatory at gun ranges.

Sure, buy ear plugs for everyone that lives near a gun range.

Don't open a gun range unless you can do it legally

Is there some reason why cars should be rather silent yet guns ought to be very noisy?

You keep saying that but have yet to provide one iota of proof. If you want to be perceived as credible then you have to back up your claim.

Thanks for your opinion, notably not tied to any data.

50+ state recognition -- don't forget Puerto Rico, American Samoa, NMIT and USVI.

I've tried this -- they will not agree to any such thing, which proves your point.

They are currently regulated for a reason.

Thats what is happening. Noise ordinances are standing in the way. If suppressors were not restricted then the big bore rifles could be required by the range and they could get approval. Big bore rifles are almost never used in gun crime and there is not one story of suppressors being used.

We all know why they are regulated. Same as other regulations. The government is anti gun and they regulate whatever they can get the public to accept. Enough people have watched TV use them so they think this is real life reality. It is not, and I challenge anyone to prove different.

No they aren't. The average pistol shot would be reduced from 160dB to 130dB. You know what else is as loud at 130dB? Rock concerts and stock car races. Chainsaws and leafblowers are 15dB quieter than suppressed pistols. Sweden has criminals. The UK has criminals, and yet suppressors aren't considered to be "equipment only for criminals" there.
