According to some sources that keeps track of things like this, the Obama's have already blew $85,000,000 of taxpayer money on vacations. This trip will probably bring it to near $90,000,000!!!!!!!!!

Do they get security? Yes, just like every other president has.

$90,000,000? That won't even cover security costs for 1 month of Trump Towers.

Get over it. Presidents go on vacations, and Obama has spent a whole lot less time on vacation than his predecessor.
I'm guessing that the same people whining about the cost are avoiding the subject of the $$hundreds of millions per year it will cost to protect Trump Tower because The Donald and his family don't really want to live in the White House full time. Estimated cost to NYC taxpayers: $1 million per day. Estimated Secret Service cost: $hundreds of millions more, including paying Trump rent for office space.

 

The Obamas still need to find their forever home so maybe they will do an episode of House Hunters while they are there.

For the record, President Obama will have taken 214 vacation days as of the end of his second term.
Dubya Bush took 879 days.
And Donald Trump is on track to send the Secret Service budget into the stratosphere because he won't move his family into the White House.

Without reading the rest of the thread, can I assume that the same people who were complaining about how much Trump's security detail is going to cost the American taxpayer will be criticizing the Obama's for their extended vacations which often involve multiple jets for each member of the Obama clan?

 

When did it become a vacation when a President moves the White House from D.C. to their residence and it's called a vacation ?

We understand why President Clinton never worked from home because the Clinton's never had a real home that they owned until when they left the White House dead broke in 2009.

I don't blame the Obama's not wanting to go back to the hood on the south side of Chicago. The Obama's are happy campers living in public housing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

President Lincoln spent less than six months per year in the White House. Was Lincoln on a vacation 50% of the time during the Great Rebellion (American Civil War) ?

Most of LBJ achievements took place while LBJ was at his ranch. LBJ's failures like micromanaging the Vietnam War happened when he was in the White House.

Nixon had two residence, one in Florida where he spent 150 days during his 5 years and 7 months in office and his second residence in San Clemente, California where he ran the country usually three to four months every year.

How many months did JFK spend at the Kennedy compound during his Presidency ?

People like the OP love to claim that Obama has spend more money and time on vacations than any other sitting president.

The record for both is still held by George W. Bush. Bush spent $20 million just flying to and from his his ranch in Texas. That does not include other vacations he and his family took. Just a single flight to his rance cost more than the most expensive vacation the Obama's took to Martha's VIneyard.

Bush also holds the record for the most days spend on vacation at a wopping 879, half of these were at camp david where he had access to all the lines of communication that a president needs to work, and so can be considered working vacations, but at well over 400 days, his actual vacation time still more than doubles that taken by Obama who took around 150-160.

 

Do you realize how silly your post is? At a million dollars a day you say it would cost, you could pay each cop $100 per hour and have money there for 416 cops. Are you saying at even this inflated cost NYC would have 426 cops at the Trump Tower??????????????

 

Trump's son will finish out THIS school year at the NY school. He will probably go to the same school as the Obama girls.

There were also 11 visits to his parent's home in Kennebunkport, Maine, spanning all or part of 43 days. That's a total of 533.
