I'm afraid that the bad guys might have a grenade launcher, so I want be prepared. Anybody know where I can buy one?
Any particular model you are looking for? They are not much good as a defensive weapon. Pretty good for gas and illumination rounds and indirect fire.
Youd have to talk to Obama or hillary they sell those to people all the time to attack our embassies.
Strange, I haven't seen any stories of thugs using grenade launchers! Do you think the MSM is sitting on the stories, or are some deluded liberal attempting to make some idiotic point?
You need to determine whether your state allows grenade launchers to be owned by citizens. Then apply for a permit from the ATF, go through an extensive background check, pay the permit fee and then purchase the grenade launcher. Just information for you in case you were serious instead of being sarcastic.
What's so great about the AR15? The standard model you can buy off the shelf is a semi-auto rifle shooting the 5.56. It is not a full auto as the press would like you to believe. For that you need a class 3 license. Refer to my earlier post about procedure. Pros: lightweight, low recoil, cheap ammunition, high capacity mags in most states. Cons: underpowered, limited range, designed to wound, restricted in many states for hunting game animals. We are doing a mile challenge early in 2017 with some friends of mine, I will guarantee there will not be an ar15 in the group.
The 5.56/223 will do the job, it was never designed to wound. You can reduce bullet weight and lower the twist of the rifling or just use a heavier 75+gr bullet to destabilize the round and cause it to yaw or use HP's. The ammo and the chambering is just common. Of all the combo's out there for the AR the 6.5 Grendal round offers the most possibilities. It gives you accuracy and range, hits harder without much loss of magazine capacity. Unfortunately it probably won't become common.
A lot of lives could be saved. Interesting how most murders are committed with weapons that are easy to obtain legally....
Ayuh,..... So how many lives have been taken with the AR-15 in the last year, or for the last 10 years for that matter,..??
The majority of firearm-related homicides are committed with handguns, procured from a wide range of sources. The number of lives lost to all rifles, not simply AR-15s, are statistically minute, to the point of being insignificant.
It was designed to be a mass killing machine. "All-American Killer: How the AR-15 Became Mass Shooters' Weapon of Choice "An assault rifle designed for the battlefield has become a windfall for the gun industry and common in mass shootings "The AR-15 assault rifle was engineered to create what one of its designers called 'maximum wound effect.' Its tiny bullets – needle-nosed and weighing less than four grams – travel nearly three times the speed of sound. As the bullet strikes the body, the payload of kinetic energy rips open a cavity inside the flesh – essentially inert space – which collapses back on itself, destroying inelastic tissue, including nerves, blood vessels and vital organs. 'It's a perfect killing machine,' says Dr. Peter Rhee, a leading trauma surgeon and retired captain with 24 years of active-duty service in the Navy.... " 'Time and time again we see it used to do what it was designed to do, which is to kill a lot of people in a short amount of time,' says Mark Barden, managing director of the Sandy Hook Promise, a group dedicated to protecting children from gun violence. Barden's son Daniel – precocious, kindhearted, an ace at foosball – was one of the students murdered in Newtown, Connecticut. 'It's designed for combat,' he says. 'It doesn't have any practical application in civilized society.' " http://www.rollingstone.com/politic...became-mass-shooters-weapon-of-choice-w451452
More BS. All modern rifle rounds work this way. The AR15/M16 was never designed to be a "mass killing machine" ( whatever that is) It's not a crew served weapon like a machine gun. In it's initial incarnation it was obtained by the USAF as a modern replacement for the M1 Garand, the M1 carbine and the M3 submachine gun and then by US SF'ers in SE Asia where it performed well until US Ordnance changed the weapon and ammo and disregarded recommendations by the vets who had actually used the weapons.
It's not the mass shooter's weapon of choice. Handguns are used in mass shootings about 4 times as often. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/12/mass-shootings-mother-jones-full-data What the heck does 24 years of Navy service give someone with regards to small arms expertise? The .223 caliber round is so "powerful" it's not legal to hunt big game in most states, and the FMJ bullet is so "lethal" it too isn't legal for hunting because it isn't lethal enough. It's used in the military because of its limited lethality compared to hollow points or other expanding bullets. Yet according to the data published by Mother Jones linked above, it's been used in a mass shooting about once a year since the end of the AWB. The data shows that about 12 people per year were killed by a mass murderer using any type of "assault weapon", including 5 years (2005, 2008-2010 and 2014) where no one was killed by a mass murderer using one. Each of the killings that did happen would have happened with a shooter using handguns, as we saw at Virginia Tech. - - - Updated - - - Explain how any lives would be saved, and quantify those savings.
