Have the figures been released yet?

Has America achieved its 30,000+ annual target?

FYI - The target figure doesn't recognise guilt/innocence/religion/skin colour, the only thing that matters is a body.

Is America 30,000 people safer than at the end of 2015 and, how many people safer will America be at the end of 2017?

    All guesses welcome!

For every gun used to commit a murder yesterday, 16,000,000 were not.

It appears all that matters to you if there was a gun fired. "Gun Death" statistics in the US are largely suicides. However, Japan has twice as many suicides per person than the US---yet has almost no guns in private hands. Go figure.

You must therefore believe that guns have magical powers. The more guns in a given area, then the more likely one will die from one. Is that right?

So would someone be more at risk inside a crack house with one stolen handgun and 6 thugs using dope---

Or would you believe a gun collector and expert firearm instructor with 100 guns carefully stored in his home be at 100 times more risk of death?

    Mislead much?

Of the the approximate 30,000 deaths...
Approx 18,000 were suicide by gun and that represents about 1/2 of the total suicide count.
    That leaves approx 12,000 homicides.
Approx 4000 of these murders were non firearm related.
That leaves approx 8000 gun related homicides that about 75% are perpetrated by criminals and are gang related.
Of this 75%, the Bureau of Justice reports that 71% are repeat offenders.

It's amazing what education a little context can provide.

Trump will make the CDC Great Again!

MAYBE OUR INFECTIOUS-DISEASE BUREAUCRACIES SHOULD SPEND MORE TIME ON INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND LESS ON PLAYGROUND AND FIREARM SAFETY: Measles Returns As A Killer.

The USA has suffered its first measles death in 12 years, according to Washington state health officials.

The woman’s measles was undetected and confirmed only through an autopsy, according to the Washington State Department of Health. The woman’s name was not released, but officials said she lived in Clallam County. . . .

Pneumonia is one of several serious common complications of measles and the most common cause of death from the virus, said William Schaffner, a professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville. Measles kills one or two children out of every 1,000 infected, according to the CDC.

It’s not surprising that the woman had no obvious measles symptoms; people with compromised immune systems often don’t develop a rash when infected with the virus, said Paul Offit, chief of infectious disease at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The woman’s death was a preventable, but predictable, consequence of falling vaccination rates, said Peter Hotez, president of the Sabin Vaccine Institute and Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development in Houston.

If America was known around the globe for not shooting people then the 16,000,000 figure would be relevant.....but whether you like it or not, many are fascinated or entertained by your blood lust.

So, were you shooting more or less of each other in 2016?

You miss understand me. Every country has is own natural culling process, i believe in America is called "thinning the herd"?

Your annual culling target has been around the 30k number for the past few years and its important that you achieve this number each year.

Its already conman and accepted knowledge that you only kill bad guys so its a simple question asking have you made american 30,000 people safer in 2016.

We're thinking of upping the 2017 target to 35,000 but we're not sure if its achievable?

Education and context murders cheap laughs and taking the pi$$.
The stats you've listed are all over the internet and are common knowledge but they are splitting hairs.

30,000 dead Americans is your annual target, we don't understand this firearm passion you have and frankly we don't really care why so many of you love guns. Stop worrying about silly statistics and start shooting yourself safer.

About 65% of murderers are identified and prosecuted for the crime.

Unless, of course, you're talking about places like Chicago, where the clearance rate hovers around 20%.

    http://www.justfacts.com/guncontrol.asp#crime_vulnerability

    Criminal Justice System

    * Nationwide in 2014, law enforcement agencies reported that 56% of aggravated assaults, 30% of robberies, 39% of rapes, and 65% of murders that were reported to police resulted in an alleged offender being identified and acted upon by the criminal justice system.[32] [33]

    * The portion of murders that resulted in an alleged suspect being identified and acted upon by the criminal justice system declined from 92% in 1960 to 65% in 2014.[34] [35]

    * From 1980 to 2008, 185,000 murders were committed in the US. that were still unsolved as of 2010.[36]

    * For every 15 aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders committed in the United States in 2006, approximately one person was sentenced to prison for committing such a crime.[37] [38] [39]

    * A 2014 U.S. Justice Department study of 404,638 convicts released from state prisons in 2005 found that within five years of their release:

77% were arrested for committing a new offense.
29% were arrested for committing a violent offense.
these former inmates were arrested for an estimated 3,642 new homicides, 6,879 new rapes/sexual assaults, 22,255 new robberies, and 93,067 new assaults.[40]

    * Of 1,662 murders committed in New York City during 2003 to 2005, more than 90% of the known killers were people with criminal records.[41]

    * In 2015, when Baltimore, Maryland, experienced the highest per-capita murder rate in its history:

77% of the homicide suspects identified by police had prior criminal records.
the average homicide suspect had been previously arrested more than nine times.[42] [43]

That's fine, we don't understand how people can give up their natural right to defend their own lives.

The 16,000,000 number is still relevant, as it indicates 99.99999994% of the guns in the US were not used to commit a murder yesterday.
This fact negates whatever point you wanted to make.

:0) In our culture, if you need a gun to feel protected as a man then....well.....you are seen as a weak and cowardly man.

Nobodys opinion is right or wrong - Its just a difference in our cultures and history.

We prefer drinking and knives, you guys like shooting people in small to medium size groups - vive la difference!!

    :roflol:

Why because they were the people NOT shooting at each other because they did not own a gun?? Are you counting every time a kid picked up a gun and didn't shoot his 2 year old brother by accident???

Or are you just completely misled by bad surveys done by paid NRA shills?

Most criminals and people who are planning to murder obtain their guns illegally through the black market, which would grow exponentially (just like it did with heroin and even cigarettes now) if guns were banned. Do you think the inner city gang members are going to turn in their weapons? Don't be silly. You obviously know nothing about America.

My take? Provided that there's plenty of publicising, anyone caught in possession of an unlicensed gun should be shot with it. After all, it's quite easy not to be in possession of a gun. It's easier than acquiring one actually, because that takes physical effort. Like it or not, this is the only way to get guns out of society.

My guns don't have "licenses" and I don't think you have the guts to shoot anybody. I can legally carry any gun I can legally possess. I will gladly agree that anybody committing a violent crime with a gun should be shot with their gun. Guns don't kill people. People kill people.
