Honestly, I didn't know he was still alive. I'm sorry for his passing, but thankful for his music.

    AC/DC co-founder Malcolm Young dies aged 64....

The “driving force” behind rock band AC/DC, Malcolm Young, has died, aged 64.

Young devised many of the band’s best-known guitar riffs, marking out tracks such as Back in Black, Highway to Hell and You Shook Me All Night Long and establishing them as one of the biggest rock acts of all time.

Three years ago the band announced Young was stepping down to receive treatment for dementia. Shortly afterwards he retired permanently, to be replaced by one of his nephews, Stevie, for the band’s most recent tour.

Young was born in Glasgow in 1953, but his family emigrated to Sydney, Australia, 10 years later.

Young’s elder brother George found fame first with his band the Easybeats, before going on to produce for AC/DC. He died last month, aged 70.

An official statement was posted on the band’s website confirming his death.

“It is with deep heartfelt sadness that AC/DC has to announce the passing of Malcolm Young,” it read. “Malcolm, along with Angus, was the founder and creator of AC/DC. With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band.”.....snip~

Pat DiNizio, The Smithereens Lead Singer, Dies at 62.....

Pat DiNizio, lead singer of The Smithereens, has died. He was 62.

The death of the singer, songwriter and founding member of the band was announced on his Facebook page Tuesday night.

Formed in Carteret, New Jersey, by DiNizio Jim Babjak, Dennis Diken and Mike Mesaros, The Smithereens had a string of hits in the '80s and '90s including "Only a Memory," "A Girl Like You" and "Too Much Passion."

The band's name was inspired a Yosemite Sam catchphrase, "Varmint, I'm a-gonna blow you to smithereens!"

DiNizio was one of the first musicians to throw his support behind XM Satellite Radio, becoming host and program director for the XM Radio Unsigned station in 2001. He was also an inaugural member of the Independent Music Awards' judging panel to support independent artists.

He went on to release a number of solo works such as "Sounds and Songs," "This is Pat DiNizio," and "Revolutions."

DiNizio also had an unsuccessful run for the New Jersey seat of the United States Senate in 2000.

His cause of death has not yet been revealed.....snip~

It was always such a contrast - his Gomer character and how he spoke, vs his singing.
