This is a sad development for academia. A leading contrary opinion in honest opposition to the political hegemony of AGW has resigned her position because of political climate in her field.

Here's the telling quote from her resignation letter:

I've been a big fan of Curry for quite some time. She's got a dozen interview podcasts easily found and the take away from most of them is one word: UNCERTAINTY.

Never forget: Science + Politics = Politics
Can't be otherwise and AGW is the most politicized area of science I know.

Thats a big confirmation there of what many of us have been saying all along.

Follow the narrative with AGW, or lose a career.

Suuuure, the science is settled. Big fraud.

There are not many anti-Relativity people left either.

Unlike relativity, AGW cannot offer any similar tidy hypothesis test.

Also, the political tide in favor of Einstein's work doesn't come to mind.

Other than that ... NAILED IT!

Are you familiar with Gad Saad? Give him a view on YouTube if not. He doesn't cover AGW, but just about every other topic concerning academia and forbidden thoughts/knowledge.

Ah, you mentioned podcasts, I assumed you watched on YouTube. Gad Saad is a professor of Evolutionary Psychology, who addresses the nuttines happening all across Western universities. Perhaps you can find him on whatever form of media you prefer.

Well that's it, the science is settled!!! Nice to see a scientist with some integrity, but I'm sure the climate-istas will have her before an inquisition in no time.

I have said this more than once over the years I've been on this forum, climate science has become a cult, and anyone questioning them is doomed. Times haven't changed in the last 400 years, we just wear different clothes

    https://pjmedia.com/trending/2017/0...eer-suicide-to-keep-her-scientific-integrity/

A climatologist at Georgia Institute of Technology resigned from her post because she could no longer navigate the stifling political orthodoxy on climate change.

Former chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Tech Judith Curry announced her resignation in a blog post on Tuesday. While her resignation is technically "a retirement event," and she is "cashing out" to get her pension, Curry explained that "the deeper reasons have to do with my growing disenchantment with universities, the academic field of climate science and scientists."

Oh the AGW crowd has been doing character assassinations on her for years over her open mindedness. She has a great blog which has some great entries by both her and her guests. Some are a tad deep on the scientific side when she gets into the probs and stats but most are understandable by laypersons

    Climate Etc.

Yep...Saw her on Fox. She couldn't take the derision any longer. And it's not even that she does or doesn't believe in AGW....She says the data is not there yet and that most climatologists are ignoring natural causes. She even says the Earth IS warming but even THAT is not enough for the climate-istas. (like that moniker for them!)

So if you agree with the scientist they have "integrity" if you do not they don't. That is political !

Einstein's theories and positions were not accepted by the establishment scientists of his day. Was that political?

Yeah, when they measured the stars in the background during a solar eclipse like 80 years ago, most folks got board. When all the climate models were woefully incorrect against reality, agw folks dropped the science and started bullying because that's what zealots do.

That just proved gravity bends light. It did not prove relativity.

Roughly speaking, a scientific theory is a self-contained explanation of some natural facts and the simpler and more predictive it is, the more powerful. This means that, if the theory is correct, it can forecast the occurrence of some distinguishing events, whose empirical confirmation would strike a blow for the theory itself. The smoking gun of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity has been a phenomenon observed during the solar eclipse of May 1919.

    Not even close, no surprise.

I understand the uncertainty of modeling chaotic systems. So does Curry.

Curry has successfully discredited herself for some years now

Especially when she initially backed the Berkeley BEST project and then turned around and refused to accept the results when it did not agree with her prejudices

That experiment offered a hypothesis that could be falsified. AGW has never done this. This is why its impetus is consensus, bullying and political pressure.

    Oh come one....

Scientists who were on the full denial camp were able to get massive of funds from like the petrol industry.
They just lost the argument, and that meant their reputation got thrown in the trash as well.
    That's their problem.
