names of 40 000 satanists - killers from Muscovite NKVD http://nkvd.memo.ru/index.php?title=%D0%9D%D0%9A%D0%92%D0%94:%D0%93%D0%BB%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D1%81%D1%82%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%86%D0%B0
I don't really see how Stalinist terror really has anything to do with the actual October revolution. He got into power a few years after the revolution (which btw was non-violent) succeeded and the Civil War was won by the Bolsheviks. Stalin's terror was mainly aimed at the left opposition and bolsheviks who disagreed with him.
Recently, I read an interview with a son of NKVD executionier. He said an interesting phrase "If there's such a profession, there will always be people willing to apply for this job". To my mind, their names being made public is less important than names of their "bosses". I mean, an average joe knows that Stalin is a cruel murderer but nobody knows of such people like Beria, Yegoda Ezhov who were his accomplices and likely more responsible for purges than he was. I surely do not try to whitewash Stalin's crimes, just trying to make a point that not only Hitler was behind Holacaust.
You mean Ovtober revolution was non-violent? Maybe but the aftermath was 20 millions of Russian lives taken by Civil War. And the notion October Revolution is rather phony. It was a coup of a quite democratic and lawful Interim Government.
First there was the terror of Lenin, then Stalin. What's the difference? They were both revolutionaries. In France too, the revolutionaries killed revolutionaries.
There is a huge difference between the terror during the Civil War and the Stalinist terror of the 30s and 40s, the most obvious one being the scale. The red terror during the civil war was aimed at people who were trying to overthrow the Bolsheviks and restore either czarism or capitalism (or both). The Stalinist terror was mostly aimed at people who disagrees with his policies as well as certain minorities. Lenin would have never murdered hundreds of thousands of his comrades simply because they disagreed with him.
1...I compared the Stalinist terror with terror in France. 2...Lenin valued his "friends" more than Russia. Russia was for Lenin as a match to ignite the fire of world revolution.
whats about the red terror? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Terror , "The Russian famine of 1921–22, also known as Povolzhye famine, was a severe famine in Bolshevik Russia which began in early spring of 1921 and lasted through 1922. This famine killed an estimated 5 million, primarily affecting the Volga and Ural River regions,[1][2][3] and forced peasants to resort to cannibalism.[4]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_famine_of_1921–22, "The Kazakhstan famine of 1932–1933, described as Kazakh catastrophe by Robert Conquest,[1] was part of the Soviet famine of 1932–33. While Ukraine was worst affected, the famine also spread to the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic's autonomous republic, Kazakhstan and other areas.[2] Kazakhs were most severely affected by the Soviet famine in terms of percentage of people who died (approximately 38%)" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan_famine_of_1932-1933, etc.
