I was wondering ... is there an other politician, in US history, who has lost the primary elections [Hillary Clinton lost against Obama] and then who lost the Presidential elections?
Clinton lost 2x but so did Romney and he lost the primaries first time around. Nixon (69-72?) ran 3-4x Im sure. Huckabees run 3x I think. Many more throughout history
I'm sure there are a few. Henry Clay lost out at least twice being his party's nominee and lost twice in the presidential elections. I'm sure there is more. More recently Romney like Clinton lost the nomination in 2008 to McCain and then lost the presidential election to Obama in 2012. Perhaps Romney and Clinton belong in the same boat.
Clinton is the greatest loser in having more Americans vote for her than any other presidential candidate in history who failed to win, and in receiving the greatest margin of Americans' votes over her principle opponent.
Correct. And this is really curious: she knew the rules of the competition ... she had to ask more effort to the Dems during the campaign to "cultivate" the rural areas [generally out of the great urban areas]. May be she did it. If this is the case, the defeat is all on the shoulders of the Democrat Party [while on the other side, Trump cannot thank the GOP ...].
But ... out of curiosity ... do you think that Angelina Jolie would have won? - - - Updated - - - Who? [I've forgotten him ...]
You must mean Californian-Americans. Other wise not so much. She's probably the biggest winner since she's not up for prosecution, yet.
Democrats foolishly allowed displaced, White males without college degrees feel that they had been abandoned by what had been their Party when higgh-paying manufacturing jobs were plentiful. You can't blame them for being dazzled by the reality tv performer's song and dance.
That's it ... this is why I've mentioned Angelina [without knowing her political orientation]. To compete with a communication - media phenomenon, in the present context [in other moments it has been different] you need a Hollywood Star or something like that, not a professional politician. On the other hand, this means that if Trump lost the primary elections and a Republican "genuine" politician would have run for the Presidency ... today we would admire Madam President ... P.S. To compete is some environments ... we have to keep on underlining that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote. But in the countrysides Angelina would have done better [I use "Angelina" as a term making reference to a category here, not as a physical person].
Also, Black and Hispanics of both (natural) sexes without college degrees did not show up in enough numbers to support their failing party. The Hildabeast did not dazzle them enough.
They may be more alike in certain aspects than just losing a primary and then a presidential election.
It was not Republican vs Democrat; it was establishment politicians vs show business performers, and the Zeitgeist clearly favoured the latter. If there is a reciprocal phenomenon, Mitch McConnell will soon be a tv sensation, singing, dancing, and telling jokes.
True, Blacks and Hispanics did not participate in sufficient numbers but, with Putin influencing the election in his interests, it was the White males without college degrees that really flipped and turned out. Thus, the electoral vote margin in industrial states. That demographic was YOOJ for the ingénue!
Eliminate the dysfunctional fringe voters in California alone, and that popular vote horse you're riding into the ground dies a merciful death. The army of college students voting solely for the promise of erasing debt, the minoriities brainwashed into believing Democratic leadership cares, and a professional class divorced from the realities of mainstream America all gave Hillary this meaningless popular vote advantage. Sometimes it's still hard to believe sanity prevailed.
No, we don't get to "eliminate" the Confederacy or any other Americans who do not conform to our partisan bias, nor claimed that White males without college degrees were "brainwashed.". Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by the widest margin of any losing candidate in US presidential elections history, carrying nearly 2.9 million votes more than President-elect Donald Trump, according to an Associated Press analysis of certified results from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Take California out of the equation, Trump won the popular vote and something is really going wrong in California today.
What's with the left keep bringing up white males without a college degree ? The Democrat's base being made up of uneducated, low information minorities without a college degree and in many cases not even a high school diploma while the other Democrat's who do have a college degree, usually a BA in the liberal arts who were indoctrinated (brain washed) in college in cultural-marxism.
I hope to god that the dems keep ignoring the reasons that they lost. Please, please, please stay ignorant my friends!
Hillary was a HORRIBLE candidate. And, she lost to a vile, disgusting, infantile opponent that only Hillary could lose to. Even Daffy Duck would make a better president than donald trump. So yes, Hillary is the Greatest Loser.
