...and let me start by saying that I have tried to find this information by Googling it, to no success.

My flat screen does not have a USB port. Are there any devises on the market to adapt a USB something-or-other to the set, so I can introduce a thumb drive with all our pictures on it and look at them on the TV?

I suspect it cannot be done...but just in case anyone here HAS done it...I'd be grateful for any info.

    Thanks in advance,

    f.

You can try something like Chromecast which mirrors your computer screen to your TV. Plug your USB into your computer and then project the image onto the tv

As far as a USB adapter to plug right into the TV without USB support I don't know...

Thanks, Night. I am more interested in showing my photos on the TV if possible.

I suspect it ain't gonna happen.

    Time for an updated TV.

Well you can do that with Chromecast. It literally mirrors everything on your computer to your TV, treats your TV as a huge computer monitor. Roku also does this. If you have a laptop it's pretty easy.

Or you purely wanting something that you can just plug right into the TV without the need for a computer? If so then no I don't believe there is anything like that. If you don't have a smart TV then I don't think you can do it. I could be wrong though they are always coming up with crazy technology by the day.

Perhaps you should buy a cheap digital TV with a USB port. My new TV costs only $400 and it can be linked to a laptop. It's a default feature of any new flat TV sets nowadays.

You can plug an android straight into the TV with a micro hdmi to hdmi cable.

You can also get an adapter that allows a usb stick to plug into that.

What types of inputs are available on the TV? Just HDMI? The TV has to have some level of Smartness to read data. HDMI alone is not gonna work.

I do not know enough to answer that question. At 80...this kind of world has passed me by.

Thanks everyone. I think this is a job for....Nancy.

    She knows everything anyway.

I'll have her read the recommendations and questions in this thread...and let her do whatever has to be done.

I can see that if I do it...I'm gonna screw it up royally.

I am not a computer geek but Star.Tech.com shows what looks like a USB to HDMI CONVERSION cable.

Did you check CABLES . Com ?

Frank Ive been down this road before. I think the best option for you is to buy a new smart tv, they are dirt cheap now and between trying to buy cables and devices to get your old tv up and running, I think you will be much happier with a tv that you can just plug a thumb drive in and see all your pics.

I thank everyone for his/her input on this question.

I am coming to the conclusion that you are correct, Alpha...and a new flat screen may be the best way to go. This one is only three years old (maybe four)...but the new smart TV's seem a reasonable investment.

Most flat screens have a VGA Port. You can connect you computer to your TV so that it operates as a Monitor, using a VGA cable. Additionally, many laptops have a HDMI Cable port. Using a VGA will not give you HD quality picture. But an HDMI connection will.

    Hope that helps.

Just burn it to a CD-DVD disk. Pretty much every DVD player ever built will recognize a data disk with pictures and allow you to display the pictures.
