The number of Democrats declining to attend Trump's inauguration is 59 and counting. That is insane. The upcoming inauguration is not about Trump. It is about a 228-year old tradition of a peaceful transition of power from one leader to the next, from one political party to the opposing political party. The United States is the longest living democracy in the world, and the inauguration is about a celebration of that marvelous and remarkable tradition.

In that respect those Democrats are wrong ... very wrong. What they are doing is extraordinarily wrong in another respect. It is sending a horrible precedent. When the Democrats ever win the White House again, will some Republicans boycott that inauguration. Are the days of a thoroughly peaceful transition of power at an end.

Then to think this is all over a tweet is enough to drive a person crazy.

These democrats are saying they are against the peaceful transition of power that has been a hallmark of American politics.

I think lefties think they are fighting the Russian Revolution, as they sip their starbucks.

Lol...Trump set the deplorable tone that has resulted in his being shunned by decent people.
He also doesn't give a rat's ass about our country's traditions, which is a deplorable precedent for a potus to set.

Democrats have shown poor judgement in the past, not realizing the unintended consequences of their actions.

Most apparent is the rule change they made in the senate, when Harry Reid pulled the trigger on the "nuclear option" when it came to opposing a president's cabinet and judicial appointments:

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...d2ca728e67c_story.html?utm_term=.ef31997a2060

The result of this is Republicans will now follow the rules the Democrats passed, ensuring Dems will not be able to prevent ANY Trump appointments.

    How scary is this?

And just like Obama failed to moderate his views when his party lost congress in the 2010 and 2014 elections, we can expect Trump to disregard any sense of history and decency in governing, just as Obama did. I explain it here, (and am looking for thoughtful liberals to comment):

Trump is the most divisive president ever. Seems to go out of his way to push people's buttons. Very thin-skinned... tiny hands. LOSER!

Good for these Dems, they should have their un-American entitled asses booted out of our government . I hope their constituents remember these fools.

Wrong. It is about Trump. Who wants to glorify a con, cheat, liar, thief and sexual predator. Not to mention someone that makes fun of the disabled. Wow! And he's so popular.:roflol:

Democrats should obstruct Donnie Trump from Day One. Exactly what Republicans did to Obama—though for no other reason other than he is black. Sort of. Trump by comparison has more issues than the NY Times.

    Oops.

Please trumpet this in Wisconsin and Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania, Florida and Iowa. This will get those voters back.

They're in their lowest %'s in nearly 100 years. They've been wiped off the political landscape, they've no one to carry the flag, they're wandering like lost sheep, like little lambs.

Meanwhile...the GOP wolf pack circles....awaits Friday at noon.

They're entitled to protest. If they're only protesting the individual, cool bananas. If they're protesting the democratic process in America, they might prefer a third world dictatorship :)

But that would be no fun for us. Progs provide a steady diet of high grade comedy.

Can Progressives ever discuss politics without the use of race?

And here's something for any Liberal willing to answer this question:

During Obama's presidential inaugurations, back in 2009 and 2013, was there any acting congressperson who chose NOT to attend - whether in protest or not - and did not attend the Obama's inaugurations? If so, how many, and why?

Umm, Trump isn't even sworn in until Friday.

Pretty quick on being so judgmental on a politician who hasn't even served yet.

Freedom in action. I find it silly to decry ones freedom of choice in a country supposedly founded upon the principle of freedom.

This is no laughing matter. The number now is 61, and the Democrats are making a very serious mistake. The precedent is horrible to contemplate.

I care. What the hell is wrong with you. Over 200 years of a democratic tradition means nothing to you? Why don't you move to Russia? You will enjoy their politics better.

Actually it is a good thing. It is letting the entire nation realize the real and true nature of the Dem Party's leadership. Not the Left-Allied MSM's patented pro Dem Party political propaganda shoveled down throats for 8/10ths of a decade, but their . . . true . . . nature. Sweet!

And now we have Obama's decision to commute Pfc. Manning's 35-year sentence. It is almost as if they wish to commit political suicide.

That's a trick question, right? The obvious answer as applied to the average leftist is "Hell no they can't!" Come on . . . give us a true stumper of a question regarding leftists.

This is not about Trump! This is about a 200-year democratic tradition in our country of a peaceful transition of power. I am no fan of Trump as many know on this forum, but blaming Trump is very short-sighted.
